Chicago cop Jacqueline “Jack” Daniels has chased and caught dozens of dangerous criminals over the course of her career. But she’s about to meet her match. When Jack wakes up in a storage locker, bound and gagged, she knows with chilling certainty who her abductor is. He’s called “Mr. K,” and more than two hundred homicides have been attributed to him. His victims have died in the most horrible ways imaginable: he is the essence of evil. Some think he’s just an urban legend, but he’s very, very real. Jack has tangled with him twice in the past, and both times he managed to slip away. Now Jack will finally have the chance to confront the maniac she’s been hunting for over twenty-five years. Unfortunately, it won’t be on her terms. In less than two hours, Mr. K is going to do to Jack what he’s done to countless others. And Jack is going to learn that sometimes the good guys don’t win...

"Be c it's the second to last book? Because the story timeline is broken up? Because the others deserved four rather than three stars? Could be all or none. Thing is, I care about these folks. Whoda thunk these characters would come together the way they have? Well, clearly Konrath did, and maybe if I'd read them in order I would too. But reading them scattershot (but will do them in order next time) has its appeal too. Liking these. (not for you, Angie, too graphic)."
— Debby (4 out of 5 stars)
" I love Jack Daniels and Konrath's stories, but I wince at all the violence against women. There's violence against men, too, and it's all equally gory and brutal, but somehow whenever it's Jack getting ripped up, I find it more bothersome. Obviously not enough to stop reading them, but enough that this doesn't get four stars, which it would have otherwise. "
— A., 2/6/2014" Really enjoyed how the author jumped around to 3 different time periods to bring in Jack's past. Cannot wait to read Stirred to find out what happens to Jack, but will be sad to see the series come to an end. "
— Shawna, 2/2/2014" Can't wait to see what happens in Stirred. "
— Margaret, 1/30/2014" Konrath serves up some pretty stiff drinks. If blood, guts and violence don't help you get to sleep at night, then his Jack Daniels series is not for you. If you are a fan, then "Shaken" is essential reading to help you discover all those back story details about Jacqueline. "Shaken" also serves as a great set-up for the new direction that Konrath is heading with his Chicago detective series. "
— Mark, 1/29/2014" Really good but short. Can't wait for Stirred. "
— Mellie, 1/24/2014" Phew back on track. I liked this one it was more refreshing than the last one Cherry Bomb. "
— Heather, 1/20/2014" Shockingly violent and I've read some gruesome and violent books. Be prepared. Often I had to pause and put the book down and take a breath before I continued. I liked the format-the time jumps that help develope the characters. Not for kids, that's for sure. "
— Chris, 1/17/2014" Click here to read my review. "
— April, 1/11/2014" This is the second to last book in the series. I can't put these down; I read the whole thing in under a day. I'll miss Jack and the rest of the characters, and hope that Joe Konrath will reconsider ending the series. "
— Linda, 12/6/2013" Stirred is not coming out soon enough. "
— Stephanie, 11/8/2013" Loved the book! It does flip-flop between past/present, but the author does it in such a way that you never feel out of touch of what is going on. Liked the details in describing action scenes, it pulled me right into the story. Will be sad to see this series end with the next book "
— Kathy, 8/16/2013" 7th book in the series... OMG this was so good and frightfully disturbing that I absolutely could not stop reading! Love the Jack Daniels series!! "
— Angela, 8/4/2013" Spannend von der ersten bis zur letzten Seite!!!! "
— Goflo07, 6/5/2013" This book is exactly as creepy as you'd expect it to be, suspenseful and dark and cruelly graphic. There were too many explicit depictions of rape for me to truly call it a GOOD read, but it's involving. "
— Elizabeth, 3/18/2013" Awesome! Can't wait for the final book in the series. "
— Susan, 3/4/2013" Excellent. I will keep reading as the series come out. "
— Luanne, 11/15/2012" Konrath si so entertaining! There wasn't a boring slow moment in this title. Every scene had my attention and some made me laugh it hurt. I highly recommend anything that has Konrath's name attached to it. "
— Steven, 9/24/2012" A fun take on the Jack Daniels series. It mixes your favorite Jack Daniels good guys with the bad guys from Blake Crouch's books (which are also really good!) I'm very interested to see how this goes. "
— Ashley, 12/22/2011" too gory and predictable! I liked the non-linear style. "
— Karen, 10/31/2011" The first chapter blew me away. The rest of the book bored me. "
— Sue, 4/24/2011" Quick read. A great prequel to the Jack Daniels' series. It would be great to see Tequila again. "
— Jane, 3/28/2011" I found this book boring, and not at all like the other stories. I wouldn't suggest it. "
— Sara, 2/11/2011" Slow to start, much better finish, but not one of his best. At the end you are thinking, please be done already. "
— Stephanie, 2/10/2011" liked how jack was secondary in the intro of this book "
— Erin, 9/2/2010" As usual, Konrath kept me interested through the whole book. I've never read one of his that I didn't like and he didn't disappoint me this time. Tequila was really a bad guy, but you had to like him anyway. Action packed all the way through! "
— Lauralynn, 7/5/2010" Very short book; but it took me awhile to finish because I forgot I hadn't finished it. I really like the character of Tequila. "
