There was no doubt about it. What Miss Harriet Pomeroy needed was a man. Someone powerful and clever who could help her rout the unscrupulous thieves who were using her beloved caves to hide their loot. But when Harriet summoned Gideon Westbrook Viscount St. Justin to her aid, she could not know that she was summoning the devil himself… Dubbed the Beast of Blackthorne Hall for his scarred face and lecherous past, Gideon was strong and fierce and notoriously menacing. Yet Harriet could not find it in her heart to fear him. For in his tawny gaze she sensed a savage pain she longed to soothe…and a searing passion she yearned to answer. Now, caught up in the beast’s clutches, Harriet must find a way to win his heart -- and evade the deadly trap of a scheming villain who would see them parted for all time.

"If you can get beyond the silly title, which has little in common with the actual story, this is a delightful Regency-era Beauty and the Beast-like take with a touch of mystery thrown in for good measure. The characters dont spend too much time lamenting on their fate or actions, and unlike similarly styled books, the few romance scenes don't feel contrived or overly cliched (if you've read more than one romance, you know those ridiculous ways of describing their tortured throbbing)! Instead we're treated to fairly well-rounded characters (hey, the heroine is an avid collector of fossils, and rarely has a good hair day) and spared the perfect hero. And the verbal beating round the bush is kept to a minimum! Looking forward to reading another Amanda Quick novel when a light-hearted, fun romp is needed!"

" It is one of only 2 medieval historical romances written by Amanda Quick in the 90s. I had the time of my life and I couldn’t put it down. It is Ms. Quick’s funniest that I have read. It felt medieval and very nostalgic and the cost of the audiobook was money well spent lol. And for a book published in 1993 it was quite unproblematic, which is what I love about Amanda Quick’s books. "
— Sam Nubian , 6/15/2024" This is one of my favorite Amanda Quick stories. I read the book a couple of times and was delighted to find the unabridged audiobook on this platform. It was a delight to listen to and the narrator brought life to Gideon and Harriet. "
— SamNubian, 6/15/2024" IMHO A corny Regency era romance and mystery beats the pants of any 50 Shades of Grey any day! "
— Jess, 2/7/2014" Back in the day, this was titillating for me. Beast of Blackthorne ... oohhh. Seemed so smutty when I was 18. I've always loved the word Ravished. Who doesn't? I enjoy Ms. Quick's books all with sexy titles. "
— ♆, 2/2/2014" Harriet was a little to focused on her fossils which made her naive and too eccentric. Thank goodness Gideon was around to save her from herself and others. "
— Val, 2/2/2014" A little bit of a slow start, but great once it took off. "
— ibNell, 1/18/2014" I remember read this book after I read 'Whitney, my Love' Judith McNaught which bring me dissapointment after 2nd misunderstanding, so this book seems very2 light to read, the romance is good to finish... "
— Lucie, 1/18/2014" my all time favourite :-)! "
— Sarina, 12/25/2013" Read it because it was on AARP's top 100 romances. I will say it was a fun and fast historical romance, but I personally wouldn't consider it a top 100. Though obviously many disagree. "
— ♡KarLynP♡, 11/21/2013" One of my all time favorite books. I have reread Ravished too many times to count. "
— Terescia, 11/14/2013" good writing, good story, heroine is quirky but likable, hero is misunderstood but honorable, not five stars because romantic tension is uneven "
— Sylvia, 11/2/2013" Her books are what they are, a nice historical romance. Nothing unusual or unique. I did like the fact that there wasn't a lot of secret organizations, and ancient mystical stuff. I liked the discussions on fossils and what the people of that time might have believed. "
— Marcy, 10/13/2013" Just reread this one--such an entertaining read. Harriet's not a conventional heroine, and Gideon certainly isn't a conventional hero. Together they are quite magical :) "
— Fedora, 2/8/2013" 2.5 stars. Underwhelming, but not completely boring. "
— Heliga, 11/20/2012" Not my favourite but still a decent read. "
— Jane, 10/5/2012" This was a very good modern take on the classic tale of "Beauty and The Beast." It was full of mystery, suspense and romance, all things that I enjoy in a good novel. This is definitely one of my favorites! "
— Stephanie, 7/30/2012" I have reread this book so many times. I love this book. "
— Virginia, 3/13/2012" **Audiobook** Enjoyed the story more than the narration but it didn't detract too much from the book. "
— Campbell, 10/31/2011" This book was so much fun! I love stories with a damaged, wounded hero who is saved with the love of a good woman! Harriet and Gideon's dialog were wonderful...two very bossy, stubborm people both trying to get their way. Harriets obsession with fossils had me laughing out loud a time or two. "
— Alison, 9/6/2011" It was a nice story - nothing spectacular, but pleasant! "
— Megan, 7/9/2011" Just reread this one--such an entertaining read. Harriet's not a conventional heroine, and Gideon certainly isn't a conventional hero. Together they are quite magical :) "
— Flchen1, 6/30/2011" I really liked this book it was funny and I loved Harriet's loyalty to "The Beast". Even if he was so overprotective and with all of his quirks I thought he was so sweet to her :) "
— Robbin, 6/29/2011" To borrow a line from the book, this was very much a gothic romance. It was fun and goofy and sweet... "
