Slightly Shady (Abridged) Audiobook

" This is book one in the Lake/March series. I had read book 3 first and thought I'd go back to the beginning of the series. I found the book to be fast paced with just the right amounts of romance and mystery in a historical setting in England. "

" This wasn't a great book--well at least for me. I don't read a great many romance novels. I wasn't sold onto the main characters--Lavinia Lake, is an Englishwoman who returns to England after her shop in Rome is destroyed by a stranger who claims to be looking for criminals that were using her shop. Her character is 'unreal' to me. Tobias March is the investigator looking into the crimes. He seems more of a bully then anything else. AND yes the two character 'get together' at the end. "

" This one could also go into a "trashy thriller" column and I rather liked that about it. It was fluffy and mindless in all the right ways but had a more entertaining plot than a lot of books you'd find on the shelves next to it. Also wax museums. I like the idea of Victorian wax museums. "

" It was more complex than I expected - really enjoyable, ready for the next in the series! "

" All of the Amanda Quick books that I read in 2006 were pretty much the same. They are set in 1800's London and involve a female detective. I probably won't read any more of her books. "

" An outstanding novel of historical romance and suspense. Lavinia Lake and Tobias March are a fascinating sleuthing team. Luckily their characters continue on in DON'T LOOK BACK, book two in the trilogy. "
