"Such a cute story! Emily is so funny and sweet, and I love that she held to her view of Simon no matter what he did or what he thought of himself - that is strength and focus. This is also very much a story about letting go and forgiveness. The inner change that Simon goes through is admirable. But I do find it ridiculously hilarious that he plotted a revenge for 23 years - that's a hella long time, dude! Who does that???"

" easy....mind candy "
— Barbara, 1/26/2014" Read this one for the sb-tb.com discussion, but I didn't finish it on time. Wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible either. It was reminiscent of Heyer's These Old Shades. I really admired the heroine's unwavering belief in herself and in her husband, and the fact that she was faithful to who she was really engineered the happy ending. "
— Beth, 1/19/2014" Emily rescues Simon from his long-plotted revenge against her family. This set of characters and plot points were hilariously terrible. However, I chose to read them as terribly hilarious, and enjoyed the book immensely. "
— Sarah, 1/14/2014" Emily and her bloody hell language had me rolling on the floor. I could totally picture the scenes. Simon sure has his hands full with her! A solid historical romance story that will warm your heart and make you believe that there is that one special person out there just for you. "
— Christine, 12/19/2013" Overall not as intriguing as some of Quick's other books, and I was a little put off by the cheesy poetry references, but it held my interest until the end. I wouldn't read it again, but it was entertaining, at the very least. "
— Dee, 11/26/2013" I laughed myself silly reading this book. "
— Jennifer, 11/15/2013" It was a fun read. Although both characters were a little hard to like at the beginning. She was soooo cheerful and forgiving. He was soooo bitter. I really couldn't get past his feeling touched that she was ready to kill someone to protect his reputation. All I can say is they deserve each other. "
— Sue, 11/8/2013" I enjoyed this as I have all of Amanda Quick's books. "
— JoAnn, 4/15/2013" I just reread this and bumped it up to 5 stars. Rereading Quick is better than 99% of what I have been reading. "
— Frances, 10/15/2011" It was a good book. I had trouble making an emotional connection with the characters, though. They seemed to be somewhat stiff and hard to relate to. It is a clever story and I never really got bored with it. But I find myself glad it is over. I won't particularly miss Emily or Simon. "
— Dawn, 9/29/2011" I loved these two characters!! Emily was a true romantic and the way she interacted with Simon was just magic! It was the cutest love story and the Earl of Blade is one of my favourite male characters of Amanda Quick's. Utterly enchanting. "
