One Foot in the Grave is the second entry in the scorching Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost, featuring born vampire, Cat Crawfield. In book one, Cat was somewhat ashamed of her origins, but her dalliance with Bones, a master vampire, taught her that she needed to embrace who she was. Although Cat might have managed to accept herself in book one, she was forced to give up her boyfriend in order to save him from the government's vampire hit squad.
Book two begins four years after book one ended and Cat is a very experienced government agent now who has killed many vampires. However, Bones has been looking for her since they parted, and he finally catches up and reignites the romance between the two of them, which makes for some steamy love scenes. At the same time, Cat is reunited with her father and his side of the family which isn't exactly pleasant, given that her father was a newborn vampire who raped her mother and left her pregnant. Since there's also a price on Cat's head, this book has its fill of action as well as romance, not to mention the family reunion from hell! Cat is a wonderfully strong, heroic character with a streak of impetuosity which doesn't detract from her likability. Her chemistry with Bones is unmistakable, and his dedication to finding her for the last four years is remarkable, showing that he really cares about her. The separation is probably what makes the reunion so hot—as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. Overall, One Foot in the Grave is a fun, sexy, action-packed read.
Jeaniene Frost is the bestselling author of the Night Huntress series and the Night Huntress World novels which have been New York Times and USA Today bestsellers. She lives with her husband, Matthew, and their dog in Florida. She loves to travel, explore old cemeteries, read poetry and watch movies with her husband. She has been writing for six years and counts herself lucky to have had her dream realized.

"So this book was way better than the first. I'm addicted to this series and can't wait to keep going. I loved some of the turns the series took with this installment and there was definitely some stuff there that I wasn't expecting. These books are making for wonderful entertaining on my daily commute. Again, my main complaint is with the voice the narrator uses for Bones. Isn't just not masculine enough. But I do recommend these books for anyone that likes some urban romance. Just beware there are very long and detailed sex scenes in the books."

You can run from the grave, but you can’t hide.
Half-vampire Cat Crawfield is now Special Agent Cat Crawfield, working for the government to rid the world of the rogue undead. She’s still using everything Bones, her sexy and dangerous ex, taught her. But when Cat is targeted for assassination, the only man who can help her is the vampire she left behind.
Being around him awakens all her emotions, from the adrenaline kick of slaying vamps side by side to the reckless passion that consumed them. But a price on her head—wanted: dead or half-alive—means her survival depends on teaming up with Bones. And no matter how hard she tries to keep things professional between them, she’ll find that desire lasts forever and that Bones won’t let her get away again.
