"Really wish I had read this book a few years ago. It is chock of full of very useful and practical information. Though a lot of it is business focused, it is really applicable to personal relationships. I liked that the emphasis was not just on ending relationships, but steps to end cycles and patterns in relationships that are destructive. I'm pretty sure that I could read this again in a year and take as much away the second time, but notice different things that fit where I am at. If you are feeling frustrated, burnt out, unable to let go of patterns of behavior in your own life, it applies too (eating, addiction, etc.)"

“Necessary Endings may be the most important book you read all year.”
— Dave Ramsey, New York Times bestselling author of The Total Makeover“Having written five books about the seasons of life, I can tell you that necessary endings are the hard part. Henry Cloud is a wise, experienced, and compassionate guide through these turbulent passages.”
— Bob Buford, bestselling author of Halftime and Finishing Well“This book will challenge you to put a stop to things that have been getting in your way for a long time.”
— Tom Rath, author of Strengths-Based Leadership“Through specific strategies for ending things well, Cloud advocates for powerful personal changes…and will give many readers the fresh start they crave.”
— Publishers Weekly" Although the main focus is on employees and businesses, Cloud does address personal relationships too. His honesty is convicting and made me assess and think hard about some situations that were dead and needed to be pruned. He also wrote "Boundaries," another good book about relationships. He says to get where you want to be, you have to sacrifice something that is holding you back. Thought-provoking. "
— C.j., 2/14/2014" For the year's beginning, a book on endings. "
— Louis, 2/9/2014" Great wisdom, enough to give five stars. "
— Sean, 1/17/2014" This book was a decent read. It had a lot of helpful thoughts. My two complaints, though, were that a) it tended to repeat itself a lot and b) the author was very focused on necessary endings in the business section. That's fine, but I hoping to be able to apply more of this to my every day life. If you're a corporate exec looking to make some hard decisions then this book is for you. If not, well then you'll probably give it 3 or less stars like I did. And it repeated itself a lot too. "
— pianogal, 1/13/2014" read for work, but enjoyed. "
— Alisha, 1/12/2014" Can't I please give this more stars? 'So very usable...applicable. "
— Allen, 1/8/2014" Interesting perspective, and very important to remember. I needed it when I read it. "
— Elizabeth, 1/4/2014" It's a beautiful bold book addressing all relationships. Personal and professional. Henry cloud is a great speaker and writer. Read boundaries by Cloud and Townsend first and then read this. Great! "
— Elliothd, 11/29/2013" This book is transformation for a person who doesn't ever want to let go. Makes good practical sense with great illustrations. I highly recommend it. "
— Edie, 11/11/2013" Solid, practical advice about how to revise our thinking about endings and navigate them effectively. Timely read! "
— Amy, 10/5/2013" Meh... good idea but very very repetitive. "
— Heather, 9/18/2013" I loved his descriptions of what we must give up in order to get what we want most. He's a business consultant providing advice to business leaders, but the advice applies in many contexts. "
— Ann, 7/7/2013" Helpful and encouraging - the concept of "pruning" one's life is especially powerful "
— Chris, 5/6/2013" So repetitive! Too many metaphors in place of substance! "
— Katelyn, 3/31/2013" This is one of those books with content I highlighted when it was especially helpful. My copy is colored from cover to cover. I've read several of Dr. Henry Cloud's other books, and he never disappoints. He's the kind of author who truly writes life-changing books. "
— Anita, 8/25/2012" Excellent book. A must read for anyone seeking to move forward. "

— Seth, 2/28/2011" This is a great book for anyone aspiring to be a leader in any capacity. "
— Rachel, 2/23/2011" Wish I would have read this book 10 years ago when I started managing people. Over-the-top insight into how to process through natural life endings in relationships, employee transitions, projects, etc... This will stay on my shelf as a reference book for a long time. "
