The #1 bestselling phenomenon continues in the eighth Stephanie Plum novel. The stakes get higher, the crimes get nastier, the chases get faster, and the men get hotter. This time Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger. Lula, Valerie, and Grandma Mazur are strapped in for the ride of their lives. Stephanie is hired to find a missing child. But things aren't always as they seem and Stephanie must determine if she's working for the right side of the law. Plus, there's the Morelli question: can a Jersey girl keep her head on straight when more than just bullets are aimed for her heart? And with the Plum and Morelli relationship looking rocky, is it time for Ranger to move in for the kill? Janet Evanovich's latest thriller proves that Hard Eight will never be enough.

"Crazy and Dangerous. I loved this one too. The relations are still confused and hot. I liked the characters. This one seemed a little more serious than the others, due to no new kooky characters, although the bad guy took the 'medal' for craziness. I liked the chain and the 'clown' lawyer. The dryer was hilarious. He was goofy in a good way. I liked the door sensors and the subsequent solitary shoot-out. I would've felt better afterwards too. The chains and handcuffs were great too. I laughed and held my breath, and felt the many 'parakeet' moments. The cars are finally back on track, had to catch up for the slow month before. Another great kooky caper and still ready for more. The family rescues were unexpected and perfect. Go Momma! Enjoy!"

— News & Record (Greensboro, NC)Evanovich produces more than "beach reading". She writes rollicking, raunchy, hysterical fiction that is so real, you will laugh out loud and want to visit the Burg.
— Rockwall County NewsJust when you think the adventures of Plum and company can't get any funnier or more convoluted, Janet Evanovich proves you wrong-nobody does it better!
— Romantic Times" Stephanie was particularly bumbling in this one but lots of laughs, which is good because Evanivich knows how to scare you to death in the endings of these books. "
— Marge, 2/19/2014" loved the end, val and stephanie were totally awesome! "
— ♥, 2/9/2014" This is the book where Stephanie and Ranger finally get together. After all of the build up, I thought Ranger deserved a little more time than a page and a half. Their relationship is one of the major plot lines driving this series, yet in many of the books Ranger does not figure prominently. Stephanie always ends up with Morelli. But you really have to love that too. "
— LuAnn, 2/4/2014" Another romp with Plum. Typically entertaining. "
— Mailmanr5, 1/29/2014" Aww geez, Stephen did Ranger! "
— Mike, 1/24/2014" Wow....Ranger and Steph consummated their relationship.....hot, but I'm a Team Morelli girl. "
— Krista, 1/24/2014" Eight books in and I'm still enjoying this series. It's a guilty pleasure, "
— Alison, 1/22/2014" A quick, easy read that never disappoints. Love Stephanie! "
— Ocean, 1/18/2014" Stephanie is back! The plot was interesting...there was a new annoying character named Kloughn, but he wasn't SUPER annoying and luckily his presence was pretty scaled back. Limited Morelli, lots of Ranger. This makes me hungry for book 9. "
— Meghan, 12/30/2013" Read my other reviews ... it's basically the same. I'm glad that her and Joe finally got back together ... they still are in need of editing. "
— Siera, 12/14/2013" I really liked this one! The interactions between Stephanie and her guys are more interesting and the way they team up to take care of her really says a lot about them. I also actually laughed out loud several times. One of my favorites in the series so far! "
— Alyssa, 12/10/2013" I'm reading out of order, which is REALLY weird...but Stephanie Plum is growing on me! "
— Judithe, 11/17/2013" Another Evanovich hit! Poor Stephanie and her luck with cars... "
— Angela, 11/11/2013" This one is my fav so far!! Might be because Stephanie finally did the dirty with Ranger :) "
— Mersina, 10/27/2013" so much fun. laugh out loud. scary villain. and lots of ranger. "
— colleen, 10/18/2013" I liked this one the least. Steph screwing Ranger really sickened me especially since she claims to love Morelli. The rabbit and bear thing was also pretty stupid. "
— Nicole, 8/7/2013" I can't believe I am admitting to reading these books. It's like admitting to enjoying potty humor. In fact, that's exactly what it is. These books are fully of juvenile potty humor and similar. Can't help it though. They are funny. And, I do love a book that makes me laugh out loud. "
— Relyn, 7/6/2013" Listened to audio book version. "
— Molly, 4/1/2013" These books (the entire series) are a very quick read, hilarious, enjoyable and actually made me laugh out loud while reading. "
— Kmeacott, 3/14/2013" A wiley FTA, a threat Ranger collecting on a debt, and a menacing mystery man in a rabbit suit. Its life as Stephanie Plum knows it...and its hilariously funny at every turn! "
— Kristy, 3/10/2013" Hard Eight was one of the funniest Stephanie Plum novels I've read. "
— Erica, 1/13/2013" Think this was my fave of the series so far - "
— Abby, 10/15/2012" Another entertaining chapter in the life of Stephanie Plum. The mystery/ adventure side of these books are just so so. However, the characters you meet and the entertainment factor (funny) makes up the difference. "
— Timothy, 9/4/2012" A comic delight with laughs on every page. "
— Chris, 3/12/2012" I loved it! Very cool book with fun and mystery :) One drawback which to me is feeling monotonous is yet ANOTHER author using God's name in vein as a curse word. Seriously it adds nothing to the book. "
— Groovy, 10/29/2011" I enjoyed these series..they did get a bit redundant. The characters were fun, I heard they are making a movie out of the series. Not surprised. When I read the books I thought it could make a good TV series..this was before the explosion of Dexter and TruBlood. "
— Dora, 9/16/2011" Great writing. Still fun and interesting. She is good with the twists and turns :) "
— Sunshine, 8/11/2011" These books are my guilty little pleasures. "
— Carol, 5/23/2011" Wow....Ranger and Steph consummated their relationship.....hot, but I'm a Team Morelli girl. "

— Karen, 5/12/2011" Funny. and like the others. really good "
— Andrea, 5/8/2011" So.. Steph finally gets it going with Ranger.. Yummy. Too bad she got it going with Morelli too.

Another awesome book, I think Valerie is going to be ridiculously surprising in the next books ;) "
— Miranda, 5/8/2011" Not as good as some of the others - I felt like this one didn't focus enough on the crime...I did like the bunny suit and all it entailed. "
— Natalie, 5/4/2011" this book is one of my favorite plum series. very funny "
— Angie, 4/27/2011" Fun, entertaining read. A few laugh out loud moments. "
— Esperanza, 4/18/2011" Good but very abrupt ending. "
— Tatrd, 4/2/2011" what a fun book. I laughed out loud more than once :) "
— Vickie, 3/31/2011" Stephanie Plum is back on the case. Hunting down the bad guys and being hunted by them. But this time it hits too close to home with a dead people in her wake and a costumed bunny making her life a living hell this one may be too much for just Stephanie to handle. "
