In the wake of tragedy, three people discover unexpected happiness and love in this heartwarming novel of magic, hope, and family, infused with the spirit of the holiday season—the first book in New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas's Friday Harbor series, and the basis of the Hallmark Hall of Fame television movie Christmas with Holly.
When his sister, Victoria, died in a car accident, Mark Nolan became the guardian of his six-year-old niece Holly. But it hasn’t been easy. Since that tragic night, the little girl hasn’t spoken a word. Mark isn’t sure how to help Holly. All he can do is follow his sister’s wise advice: Start by loving her. The rest will follow.
Maggie Collins was barely married a year when she suddenly lost her husband. Though she doesn’t dare let herself believe in love again, the toy store owner does believe in magic—the power of imagination. When she meets Holly Nolan, she knows just what the quiet little girl needs.
Thrust together by the vagaries of fate, three wounded people are about to share the greatest Christmas gift of all. . . .

"I've never read a Lisa Kleypas book I didn't like, but this one was even better than I expected it to be. It was so good, in fact, that I read the whole book in a single sitting. It helped that it was only about 200 pages long, but still, it was that good! There were some tearjerker moments, which I expected based on the premise, but there were also some unexpected moments of humor that made me laugh out loud. The Thanksgiving turkey scene was my favorite - it was so easy to visualize Sam and Mark blowing up the turkey while trying to deep fry it. I hope Mark's brothers, Sam and Alex, get their own stories at some point in the future. After their messed up childhoods, both deserve a happy ending of their own."

“A solid romance with strong leads, this is a refreshing holiday treat.”
— Publishers Weekly" I love pretty much anything Lisa Kleypas writes. This is a sweet, tender love story that will leave you feeling good after the last page turn. My only complaint is that it wasn't enough, and I'm hoping Maggie and Matt's story will continue in a future, full-length book! "
— Leah, 1/18/2014" Sweet and far too short. "
— Ana, 1/16/2014" Fantastic short holiday romance for those of us who love reading these silly sappy things on vacation. "
— Kristy, 12/25/2013" Nice story...read it in a day. "
— Carrie, 12/20/2013" A magical and satisfying romance. Lisa Kleypas has you rooting for Mark, Maggie and Holly to become a family. The end leaves you craving for more...I can't wait to read the second book in the Friday Harbor Series. "
— Rose, 11/21/2013" Sweet, simple, enjoyable quick read. This is one of my favorite authors and a must read author, for me, these charachters do not have the depth of some of her charachters, such as, Nick Gentry (a Kleypas historical fiction charachter my all time favorite) but they are likeable and fun. "
— Michelle, 11/19/2013" Really sweet... I like it :) "
— Gaby, 11/15/2013" Loved this book.Excellent read. The guy gets the girl and the little girl gets a mom. "
— Louise, 10/15/2013" I thought this book was really cute... I definitely want to continue on with the series!! "
— Katie, 10/8/2013" The semi-trilogy with Sugar Daddy, Blue-Eyed Devil, and Smooth Talking Stranger were much better. I was let down with this one. But it was a quick and easy read. "
— Angel, 9/9/2013" So awesome! Didn't want to put it down! "
— Michelle, 8/20/2013" Lisa Kleypas has been one of my favorite authors for years. When she started to write modern day romances, I was leary. The funny thing is, she became an even better writter. I just love her books! "
— Nickie, 8/12/2013" Cute little (predictable) romance for Christmas. The characters were really well fleshed out and likable. I'd like the brothers to maybe get their own stories. "
— Amy, 5/3/2013" I could have really loved this one, but even at 200 pages it still felt like a novella. It just wasn't long enough or detailed enough to feel like a complete book. If it were a short story it'd have been amazing. Too bad it wasn't. "
— Heather, 3/25/2013" Sweet, quick romance that I enjoyed as an audio book. Her most "chaste" of all her stories to date. "
— Kit, 1/22/2013" Not doing a full review on this one. I Liked it. Felt more like a series romance than a full-lenght. Wish the relationship was more developed, it didn't focus enough on the hero and heroine. "
— Lynette, 12/29/2012" Wished it could have been longer. Still enjoyed it though. "
— Spoiler, 12/1/2012" It was a very quick read. My minor complain was when the author switched to tour guide mode (or why I, the author, love it here). It felt like she was forced to add pages. The story felt genuine, and the characters likable. I would recommend it for a light and generally happy read. "
— Mum, 9/20/2012" Ok...just a quick easy read. Nothing to shout about really! "
— Jo, 9/4/2012" I enjoyed the book from beginning to end. It was an easy read, but entertaining none the least. "
— Dancer, 8/29/2012" I'm not crazy about romance novels set on Christmas. And although I love Lise Kleypas' historical fiction, I don't care for her contemporary stuff. That said, this read like a Debbie Macomber book (minus all the characters going to church and constantly praying). "
— Gevera, 7/17/2012" I just love this series, my only wish is that this book would of been a little longer, I'd love to of read more about Maggie and Mark's romance "
— Lori, 5/15/2012" This book read like a made-for-tv movie, which is what I expected from the title. It was a good, quick read. It is also a romance, so there are a few paragraphs worth skipping, in my opinion. "
— Emily, 1/12/2012" Some laugh out loud moments. Very light read. Kleypas is amazing. "
— Danette, 5/21/2011" Ahhhh... gw suka kalo pendek2 kayak gini. Ceritanya so sweet, I guess I'm getting softened by all of the romances I've read wekekekkeke (prett...) :D "
— Titis, 5/20/2011" 3 1/2 stars. It was really good, but like everyone else has said, far too short for the hardback price. "
— BamaGal, 5/15/2011" Adorable, but way too short. This could have easily been fleshed out into a full length novel. I give it 4 stars purely because the length of it was a disappointment "
— Nicci, 5/15/2011" While well written, the unusually short length throw off Kleypas' normally careful pacing. Loved the characters, but definitely needed more time with them. "
— Cat, 5/5/2011" Very enjoyable story for the romantic in you "
— Lyn, 5/1/2011" OMG! Such a wonderful book.
The author has written it so good, that I felt all the emotions like inside my skin.
Amazing...that didn't happen in a long time.

Well done, miss Lisa! "
— Anicka, 4/22/2011" VERY quick read of a sweet little story. "
— Carolyn, 4/15/2011" Well that was kind of a letdown. I expect more character development from Lisa Kleypas. This felt almost Harlequiny; more novella than novel. "
— Vicki, 4/14/2011" Little Holly goes to live with her 2 uncles, all she wants for Christmas is a mommy. Great love story. "
— Ldlimes, 4/13/2011" This is the first book that I have read from this author. Will read more of her books. "
— Kristen, 4/7/2011" keknya ni bakalan jadi series ya??
so far so good
Gak dpt feel lisa kleypassnya, pendek bgt.
Suka awal2nya,tp trakr2nya malah gak dpt gregetnya
But its such a sweet stories "
— Dwi_eternity, 4/7/2011" Love Lisa Kleypas! Wish this book could've been longer, though! :) "
— Cynthia, 3/26/2011" OK, Briel, I read this for the title. And now you have to read it to tell me how accurate the descriptions are. Cute story. Very quick read. "
