A revised and updated edition of the first book in legendary New York Times bestselling author Lisa Kleypas’s beloved historical romance series featuring the unforgettable Hathaways: a family of misfits trying to navigate their way through the hazards of the British aristocracy
Miss Amelia Hathaway, a beautiful and strong-willed spinster, has looked after her unruly younger siblings ever since the death of her parents. Romance is the last thing on her mind. But when reckless brother inherits a title, the Hathaways are flung into the unfamiliar world of the English peerage. And Amelia, who’s always refused to lean on anyone’s shoulder, finds herself turning to a sexy dark-haired stranger for help.
Cam Rohan, with his Romany heritage and mysterious past, is even more of an outsider than the Hathaways. He’s tough and streetwise with a romantic streak, the kind of man Amelia has never dared to dream of.
No matter how Amelia tries to avoid Cam, fate keeps throwing them together. But as their irresistible attraction blazes, an enemy from her past threatens everything and everyone she holds dear. As she and Cam confront the growing peril together, Amelia finally has to take the most dangerous risk of all: Loving a man, body and soul.

"Great romance. Amelia is an intelligent & independent women that I became quite fond of & Cam is just the essence of sexy. The two of them balance each other perfectly. Cam's adoration & patience with her & the crazy Hathaways made the love story so sweet & tender but Kleypas is kind enough to write us a hot & sexy love story as well as the sweet & tender one. Add a little mystery & turmoil; as well as a very fun & lovable bunch of supporting characters and you get only a glimpse of what this novel has to offer. Let me not forget to mention the sarcastic & witty humor that made it an even better read. Easily a 4 star if not closer to 4.5 star read. I'm so glad this is a series, on to book 2!"

“Kleypas’s effortless style makes for another sexy exploration of nineteenth-century passion and peccadilloes, riveting from start to finish.”
— Publishers Weekly" Rosalyn Landor is a brilliant narrator and Lisa Kleypas as an author is a wonderful combination "
— AB, 6/20/2023" This is a good, light, fluffy book. Amelia and Cam's characters are very likable. Quite a bit of the book focused on other characters that I didn't care for as much as Amelia and Cam so that was a bummer, but overall a great book. "
— m.allen, 2/12/2014" Loved this book so much. Rohan is very much not the ALPHA male and it works. They work so well together. "
— Anna, 2/9/2014" Lisa Kleypas is a great romance writer. Her characters are fun, funny, and sexy. "
— Adrianne, 2/4/2014" I really enjoyed this one... The Hathaways are a dysfunctional lot, Can't wait to read Win and Merripan's book. "
— gina~*, 1/23/2014" Possibly her best yet! "
— Suzy, 1/21/2014" I love Lisa Kleypas! I like her more and more every book I read! I bought this one because I was craving more of her writing! I love her steamy romances! This book is about a girl holds her family together and considers herself a spinster! And man who finds himself sick of leading a sophisticated life, yearns for sleeping under the stars and moving around a lot. "
— Chelsea, 1/20/2014" Kleypas is one of my all time favorite authors and she really outdid herself with this one. A definite must read for anyone who loves historical romances. "
— Ava, 1/15/2014" RT AWARDS 2007 WINNER OF Historical Romance of the Year "
— Rizka, 1/11/2014" I really enjoyed it. I think I liked the Wallflower series better, but that might also be just because they were new to me and that made them more exciting. "
— Heather, 1/11/2014" A new series for me. I'm guessing that this one surrounds the Hathaway family? Very enjoyable even though you do want to strangle Amelia's brother Leo many times. I'm glad that Cam Rohan got a story of his own; he deserves it. A very likable character. Also good to see the wallflowers returning. "
— Rachel, 1/8/2014" great historical romance...loved that the characters from the Wallflower series were part of this one. tough to put down "
— Julie, 1/6/2014" What can I say? I was in the mood for a good old-fashioned romance novel! This one had strong romantic tension between the hero and heroine, but their characters were so flat and simplistic that I couldn't relate to them beyond their attraction for each other. "
— Tanya, 12/7/2013" It's grown on me so I've had to change my initial rating. *LOL* Sweet and well-done; as always, the characterization and sexual tension is superb. "
— Mshellion, 12/4/2013" 4.5/5. It was an unexpected surprise for me to see the Wallflower characters appear in the Hathaways book. That was nice :) "

— PT, 9/5/2011" Didn't finish. Did not like the characters, and the plot did not pull me in either. I might try something else by the author since I've heard it's not her best book. The writing wasn't bad. 1.5 "
— Anoolka, 5/16/2011" I listened to this as an advertised 'unabridged' audiobook, only to learn there are huge sections left out. I went out and bought the book and will actaully read it, instead of reviewing the audiobook. Not cool Brilliance Audio! Not cool at all! "

— Michele, 3/17/2011" Not my favorite book by Kleypas but it was worth the time. This is the first book in the Hathaway series. I've already started the second book (Seduce Me At Sunrise) and it is much better. "
