Determined to escape a forced marriage to a man who will destroy her, Charlotte agrees to an audacious bargain . . . she will become Nick Gentry's bride. But soon she discovers that Nick has secrets of his own, and it will take all her wits and stubborn will to tame his tormented soul.
In the desperate quest to protect Charlotte from the diabolical aristocrat who threatens her, one thing becomes clear: to save the woman he loves, Nick will take any risk . . . and pay any price.

"Whew! Thanks to Rachel for tipping me off to this author. This smut novel was SMUTTY!! It was awesome; lots of sex scenes. Only lost a star because I thought the dynamic of the husband towards the wife was just a tad obsessive and it made me a bit uncomfortable. But this is great, and I'll read more of her books."

" I wanted to go back and add a review to this, only to realize I couldn't remember it but barely, which is not a good sign. I seem to remember that Nick decided he wanted to marry Charlotte awfully quickly. "
— Laura, 2/14/2014" As I get farther into reading historicals, I begin to see why Lisa Kleypas is considered one of the best. The hero and heroine in this book were both exactly the kind that appeal to me, and the relationship was well-drawn. Another series I'll be looking more into! "
Hehehe ... "
— Diah, 2/3/2014" I loved Nick and Lottie!! She is the perfect light to his dark!! What a wonderful story!! One of my favorites in the genre! "
— April, 2/2/2014" I don't think I can be disappointed by Lisa Kleypas. Another good one! "
— Janelle, 1/26/2014" I read this out of order and loved it. Very good book. "
— Mitzi, 1/16/2014" I liked the previous one better, even though both main characters are quite endearing in that one (hero is quite dashing!). "
— Beowulfwulf, 12/9/2013" An Art of arousing and intensified mind boggling to the reader! "
— Joseph, 12/5/2013" oh how I love Kleypas' books! "
— Holly, 10/16/2013" Yet another great historical romance by Lisa. Very excited for more of her work. "
— Luvmyfamily, 10/13/2013" I only have one teeny tiny complaint...the situation with Lottie's parents and Ellie wasn't fully resolved. "
— Jessica, 9/30/2013" Not one of my fav - the synopsis captivate yet I lose the thrill when I read it "
— Kerry, 6/10/2013" good read. I havent regret to read Lisa Kleypas' books. "
— Hirosasazaki, 4/5/2013" Lisa Kleypas, you know how to write butterflies-in-your-stomach romance. my kind of love story! "
— Sieni, 3/20/2013" The last couple LK books I've read haven't been as good. This was good, but not great. Very predictable. I think I got ruined from the last Gaelen Foley and Sarah MacLean books I read, which were much better than this LK book. "
— Katie, 1/21/2013" on of my new favorites!! "
— Ashley, 8/16/2012" These two stars are because its Lisa Kleypas and I know she can do better. "
— Kagama-the, 7/17/2012" I thought this was the best of the three--I really enjoyed the characters, their story, and even their reluctance to want to be together. "
— Jill, 4/21/2012" The books by Lisa Kleypas are the best for relax reading. This one like the others have her typical style, which I love, but I would have preferred if the book had a more developed plot. "
— Simone, 1/31/2012" Nick Gentry and Lottie Howard "
