Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a millionaire, a genius, and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn’t know what he’s taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. These aren’t the fairies of bedtime stories; these fairies are armed and dangerous.
Artemis thinks he has them right where he wants them . . . but then they stop playing by the rules.

"Ah, the ultimate enemy when you're an ex-criminal... yourself! It wasn't as good as some of the other ones (I think I liked the "Arctic Incident" better...) but it was enjoyable. I think it's precious how much Artemis loves his mother. Underneath that whole "villain" face, he's still a good son."

" Alright but my least favorite in the series. I got confused going back and forth between the two time zones. "
— Sharrid, 2/20/2014" Man this book was a mess. It was all over the place with little to no direction. Weak, totally weak! I hope the next one is better. "
— Ryan, 2/12/2014" I couldn't finish this book. It added one too many unnecessary plot devices. I could be wrong, but I could see where the book would end up and I didn't want to slosh through all of that...predictable...material. "
— Ellie, 2/11/2014" This book was slightly confusing, but I guess that happens with time travel and everything. Interesting to see Artemis battle with his younger self and realize just how much of a brat he was when Holly first met him. Also, Holly and Artemis kiss...not sure how I feel about that lol "
— Jenn, 1/21/2014" OMG the most trippy and mind messing book i have read in a long time. regardless of it being YA fiction. As usual Eion Colfer's brilliant wit and humor is throughout while still giving the reader the best impact of all the plot twists. A great read no matter age "
— Fortunecooki, 1/20/2014" Excellent segue into a more adulty storyline for future books. Opal is a great character. "
— Molly, 1/19/2014" In general, I don't like time travel plots, because most have plot holes that you can drive a tanker through...this one is no exception. I think this is the weakest in the series, thus far, though it wasn't bad enough for me to discontinue. "
— Gordon, 1/18/2014" Read this series a while ago, reviews to come! "
— Liyana, 1/18/2014" so far this is the best of the series, but it is hard to follow it. it is very nice "
— Logan, 1/16/2014" The 2 star was totally my fault. It was the 1st Artemis Fowl I read. If I had the history with the other stories first I am sure I would have enjoyed it more. That's what I get for grabbing something off the Library shelf and not paying attention to details. "
— Jan, 1/6/2014" this was stuffed with action and adventure. i think it was a perfect plot. "
— Jameson, 12/13/2013" I enjoy the Artemis Fowl series, but I would rather listen to this series than read it. The audio books are so well done and really make the characters come alive in a way that holds my interest more than reading the books do. "
— Becky, 12/8/2013" Holy bamboo...this book left me breathless! I NEED THE NEXT ONE!!!!! Im dying inside because i know i cant resd the next one till Tuesday!!!!!! Curse you father time! "
— *Regan*, 7/29/2013" amazing book but I didn't like the results of the future I was getting but I like the dramatic ending action scene. "
— Soo, 7/20/2013" There must be something to this "fairy magic" as I feel compelled to finish the series! :) "
— Michelle, 4/28/2013" This book was the downfall of Artemis series...I found it ok, but if I continue reading the books it won't be from my budget expense, but borrowed from a library or a friend. "
— Is, 10/9/2012" one of my favorites in the series. just showing how far he's come and what he would have been like with out fairies is horrible. also cool that he now has a real family and the plot is amazing! "
— Mollie, 9/30/2012" i am 173 pages in and i love it "
— Fanglover#1, 6/15/2012" Reading Now! AWESOME so far "
— Billy, 2/14/2012" I really liked it as you can see by my rating I have enjoyed all Artemis Fowl books so far and I believe that the rest of the Artemis Fowl files will be just as good if not better. "
— Abigail, 11/12/2011" 1 Question for Mr. Colfer: were you kidnapped by a fan and forced to write this book in his/her basement like that guy from misery? If so, write a message in gnomish in your next book... we'll see if we can set Foaly on it. If not... I have nothing more to say. "
— Geneviève, 9/27/2011" This one felt less like a part of the series to me. There was action, but it just didn't feel the same. Overall, a little flat for me. "
— Courtney, 8/26/2011" Awesome as usual! Slightly more confusing than the rest of the books and a bit long-winded at times. Regardless, the book was fabulous and just as amazing as the rest of this series. "
— Kelli, 7/3/2011" I was really disappointed with this entry in the Artemis Fowl series. I felt various characters were not used to their fullest purpose and others had weird out of character moments. The plot of time travel seemed like "what else can we do?" Hopefully the next one will be better. "
— Drucilla, 5/20/2011" I almost gave this book four stars. Light writing style, but complicated plot. I should probably read this series in order... "
— Tessa, 4/29/2011" Amazing way he captures the different ways you could come at the situation. It's a jr. James Bond. "
— Camaryn, 4/29/2011" I listened to this one because I didn't have anything else on hand. I recommend reading the series in sequence! The story was engaging and a fun diversion from my usual fare. "
— Sharon, 4/23/2011" i love this. especially when holly kissed artemis. *i am freaking jealous*^^ i was amazed with ten year old artemis. some kind of kid huh? great really great^^^^ "
— Diane, 4/22/2011" It was pretty good, but I expected better. "
— Wendy, 4/18/2011" Not my favorite. They tried really hard, but it was still a fun adventure. I hope the next one is better. "
