Meanwhile in the lower elements, Opal has planted a trap for Captain Holly Short and Commander Root of the LEPrecon fairy police--Root is killed, and Holly is framed for the murder. "I thought that this book would be a disappointment as in series there is usually one 'dodgy' book. I was blown away by this to my suprise. The characters are so well written and fromed that I can practically hear them and the plot thickens and gets better and better. I love Artemis and think he's a sweet boy underneath all the bravado."

" Huge thumbs up to the entire young adult series. The characters are very well done and the plots provide non-stop action. Book 1 offers an exciting introduction. Book 3 is also quite a standout (Butler's sister added some nice interest). "

" Another winner. Colfer keeps the series going by bringing us back to the beginning in a way that works. Opal Deception is a not as light as its predecessors, but that's okay. I was ready for a little bit more drama. On to the next one! "

" Eoin Cofler did it perfectly. Again. In this book, Artemis meets Opal and has a memory device go off in his head about his past with Holly. Which wants you to read more. In the end, evil Opal gets trapped. What does she do next? Guess I wil have to find out in book six. "

" Finished this one in a few hours. Loved it. Colfer has written a fast-paced, funny, yet emotional book. It's a mystery sometimes why YA readers don't appreciate Colfer's work as much as they do Rowling or even the over-rated Stephanie Meyer. His writing is superb. "

" On literary merit alone, this is an excellent series of children's books that - in my opinion - far exceeds Harry Potter (now the genre standard) in originality and plot coherence. "
