The long-awaited crime caper so outlandish, so maniacal, so wickedly funny, it could have only come from the mind that brought you Artemis Fowl.
Daniel McEvoy has a problem. Well, really, he has several, but for this Irish ex-pat bouncer at a seedy small-time casino, the fact that his girlfriend was just murdered in the parking lot is uppermost in his mind.
That is until lots of people around him start dying, and not of natural causes. Suddenly Daniel’s got half the New Jersey mob, dirty cops, and his man-crazy upstairs neighbor after him and he still doesn’t know what’s going on. Bullets are flying, everybody’s on the take, and it all may be more than Daniel’s new hair plugs can handle.
And Daniel’s got to find the guy who put in those hair plugs—or at least his body—and fast, or else he’ll never get that voice out of his head. Head-spinning plot twists, breakneck pacing, and some of the best banter this side of Elmore Leonard’s Detroit will keep you on the edge of your seat and itching for more.

"So much fun! If you are a fan of Elmore Leonard or Carl Hiaasen, then Eoin Colfer's first attempt (I think) at adult noir will enchant you without being overly derivative. As with all of Colfer's novels, I recommend finding an audiobook unless you can do a really good Irish accent in your head. "

" Nice read.. good thriller. A bit scary. I like it. "
— Amina, 2/13/2014" A delightful book about an Irishman living in New Jersey and working for a casino. The tale is well spun as I enjoyed every minute of it. It really shows that Colfer is not just a writer of children's stories. I highly recommend this book. "
— Bill, 2/10/2014" By the author of the *Artemis Fowl* series, but this is not a YA book - violent, with some very blue language. Hilariously funny at times, but not for the kiddos. The book is a "Florida wacko"/Carl Hiaasen type, but it is set in New Jersey, so if you like Hiaasen's (adult) works, go for it. "
— Nicole, 2/5/2014" A great quirky crime novel. A bit too descriptive for my tastes, which is to say, any description at all.... "
— Lissa, 2/3/2014" I love a book that makes me laugh out loud. Great characters. "
— Jo-Ann, 1/25/2014" Colfer should stick with Artemis Fowl "
— Rubiana, 1/3/2014" I read the Artemis Fowl books when I was younger, so I decided to give Plugged a try. It was my first time reading a crime/mystery novel and I was caught off guard by the violence. Otherwise, fast and funny read. "
— Amanda, 12/8/2013" Somewhat hard to believe, that one man's life could go so wrong so fast and it all turns out ok? But it's a quick and easy if violent read. "
— Jody, 8/14/2013" Pretty good. I'll give the next book a try. "
— Chad, 1/21/2013" The first adult book from the famed author of Artemis Fowl. Maybe he should stick to what he is awesome at. The book is funny, fast paced and mildly interesting. The flashbacks are a bit confusing at times. The climax is downright hilarious and predictable. It falls short of expectations. "
— Lalitha, 11/22/2012" I was actually excited to read this book as I have enjoyed the other books by this author. I understand that this is a book for 'adults' but the pervasive bad language really put me off to the point where I did not even bother finishing the book. "
— Amy, 11/20/2012" Fast and fun. A good, quick read. "
— Kathleen, 11/17/2012" Hilariously witty plot. Absolutely love Colfer's style. "
— Bernard, 9/22/2012" Decent Book. I liked the characters. The story seemed a bit forced and ragged to me. "
— Keith, 9/2/2012" Hilarious but raunchy "
— Karen, 8/18/2012" Good, fast-paced ADULT fun. I enjoyed it. "
— Dwayne, 6/11/2012" Not what I expected. quite predictable. "
— Lynn, 5/1/2012" This is not your kid's Artemis Fowl. It is an adult version of fast paced fun! Irish humor abounds. "
— Karenzielinski, 4/24/2012" I was actually excited to read this book as I have enjoyed the other books by this author. I understand that this is a book for 'adults' but the pervasive bad language really put me off to the point where I did not even bother finishing the book. "
— Amy, 11/8/2011" I wanted to give this book one million stars because I love Eoi Colfer (or really, Artemis Fowl) so much, but this was for the most part a decent, entertaining read "
— Jessica, 11/2/2011" It wasn't as good as I would have hoped - ok for a bubble gum read. "
— Robin, 11/2/2011" I don't know why this guy writes an amazing book like "Airman" and then writes a book with such offensive language as this one. I guess I'll just stick to the books for kids because I don't want the language he seems to think adults need! "
— Chris, 11/1/2011" I didn't know I could have this much fun in 250 pages. I heard about this one from a review in the Sunday NY Times book review and it exceeded my expectations. "
— Don, 10/28/2011" Actually I would give this 3.5 stars. This wacky crime novel is a very quick read so be sure and check it out of the library instead of purchasing it. "
— Cali, 10/27/2011" Somewhat hard to believe, that one man's life could go so wrong so fast and it all turns out ok? But it's a quick and easy if violent read. "
— Jody, 10/26/2011" Funny! Interesting plot, funny wisecracking main character. "
— Suzanne, 10/21/2011" Did you ever catch that Jimmy Fallon, Queen Latifah movie on one of its many basic cable showings? Did you ever wish there were a novel with a similar feel? Well, you got your wish. I didn't get mine: those hours of my life are gone forever. I did, however, cut my losses halfway through. "
