The New York Times bestselling novel from the author of the Reverend Curtis Black series...
ADDICTION. DECEPTION.
PRETTY PICTURES HIDE UGLY SECRETS.
Denise and Derrek Shaw are the perfect American couple. Happily married for fifteen years, they have a wonderful daughter, Mackenzie, successful careers, and a beautiful home in a posh Chicago suburb. They are attractive, respected . . . and hiding a shocking secret: a dangerous addiction to drugs.
It started innocently enough. Denise occasionally used prescription drugs to help her deal with the long hours and demanding nature of her job. Derrek, also under pressure at work, began using cocaine socially with some of his colleagues.
They can quit whenever they want to. At least, that's what Denise would like to believe . . .
As her job becomes more stressful, Denise can no longer get through the day without a fix. Derrek realizes his harmless habit has become anything but, and desperately wants to get clean. However, his attempts are derailed when there is a sudden family tragedy. Once soul mates, now this husband and wife are quickly losing the immense love that had been the cornerstone of their marriage. With her parents spiraling out of control, Mackenzie makes an unexpected move to take matters into her own hands. Is her sacrifice too late-or is there still hope? Is there a final chance to save the Shaw family?

"Great book. It really had me inside the lives of real drug addicts. I often wondered how people could get caught in the spiraling life of this addiction. Having watched people around me go through this I often thought they could stop if they really tried. But reading about Derrick and Denise made me realize that it is harder than I thought it would be. How the drugs could make you do the unthinkable....fast. It also was confirmation that your past, if not dealt with, can effect your present and future no matter how much you try to forget about it. But God... Great job again Kimberla Lawson Roby!"

— Philly.com on LOVE, HONOR, AND BETRAY" Shallow characters but the addiction denial was spot on. The perfection of the marriage except for the addiction issues was a bit over the top! Some parts actually quite tough to get through. "
— Rieta, 2/20/2014" This book is a quick read and quite interesting. However, I felt it could have been better developed. I wanted to to know more about the other characters and it never happened. "
— Shelly, 2/17/2014" This is a well written novel that gives a realistic look at how drug addiction can ruin a family. It is only 174 pages, so it is a very quick read (I read it in one evening). "
— Nicole, 2/8/2014" Good book, very quick read. Will read more of her books. "
— Meredith, 1/30/2014" I was so moved by this book. Oh my goodness. Nothing and no one is perfect. It was great from beginning to ending. I HIGHLY recommend this book! Loved it! "
— Brenda, 1/22/2014" I enjoyed this book but not as much as the Rev. Black series. Roby did an excellent job of making the reader aware of the process of becoming addicted to drugs. This book is a quick read. You can read it in a couple of hours. "
— Debra, 1/19/2014" Reading this book was like watching a Lifetime movie. The only redeeming quality is that it was very short under 200 pages. "
— Barbara, 1/14/2014" I was very disappointed with this novella. Very predictable. "
— Jessica, 12/31/2013" Very boring writing. "
— Vanessa, 12/14/2013" The Perfect Marriage was a great read. What I loved most was that the author didn't need to be graphic or explicit to get her point across. "
— Cassandra, 11/28/2013" Fast paced and gripping. Easy quick read with the ending you never seen coming! "
— Teresa, 10/26/2013" Would not recommend this one. Boring! "
— Patricia, 10/23/2013" A very good read that is realistic about addiction and the lives of addicts. Very good story line and it was hard to put down. "
— Natalie, 10/21/2013" Overly-romanticized version of drug-affected family and individuals. "
— Katie, 10/4/2013" So disappointed. I feel like the author dragged this out. The Perfect Marriage was far from perfect. Two educated adults on drugs, just couldn't get with this novel at all. "
— Pearl, 9/8/2013" I would give it 2.5 stars. Easy read but I had a hard time with the fast furious problems. I understand she was making a point and had to go to extremes. Wasn't bad. "
— Tina, 8/26/2013" This book was good. Deep, perhaps I picked the wrong time to read this book. The story was good and I am sure someone can relate to the story line. It seems like it will likely tie into the Curtis Black series with the drug dealer and stuff, so maybe we will see more of these characters. "
— Millicent, 7/23/2013" I love Roby as an author. I found this book to be easy to read and well paced. Saying that I also found the storyline to be predictable. A light weekend read, enjoy. "

— Sheila, 3/9/2013" I will always support KLR. However, I just felt like this latest was not as good as I anticipated. The plot had a lot of potential. But the characters were under developed. "
— Sabrina, 2/18/2013" 3.5 stars. I had a hard time getting in to this one. "
