"good read plenty of action from start to finish ............unlike some books that either are to slow to get going or loose themselves in the middle or let you down in the end looking forward in reading more from Andy McDermott would recommend this book 100% "
— David (4 out of 5 stars)
McDermott's debut, already an international bestseller, raises the bar to please adventure junkies who prefer to mainline their action.
— Publishers Weekly Starred Review" Interesting story but felt plot could have been developed further "
— Vanessa, 2/17/2014" In my defense, I really need to read these books sometimes as a cleanser for the heavier stuff that gets bogged down in my brain. These Indiana Jones adventure type stories are complete fluff, but entertaining. "
— Mandy, 2/14/2014" The story was fun, but I'm not sure about the characters. Eddie Chase is obnoxious and Nina Wilde can be a bit annoying. (I read the audio book and the woman reading it didn't help much.) I did like that I wasn't able to predict every moment though. Another annoyance were the constant references to Indiana Jones. The first time it was mentioned, I thought it was funny. After that, it just got annoying. We get it. Indiana Jones is a movie and not real. It's funny that was a message so important to get across, yet one of the last scenes of the book I found to be just as unrealistic. But really, we don't read action/adventure books or watch action/adventure movies for the realism. We read them for the crazy adventures. "
— Jen, 1/5/2014" Just coudldnt get in to this book at all. wasn't very easy to pick up. dunno why "
— Roy, 12/16/2013" Offending (some parts took place in Iran, and the writer seemed to against Iran. Such political words shouldn't be in the novel like this). And this is neither a historical nor a mythological novel. It's just an action novel. The mythology and the history was quite shallow. I don't like this books. "
— Joevarian, 12/13/2013" I loved the book, the action scenes were great and there was never a dull moment. The writing style is quite simple but the story line made up for this. "
— Brittany282, 10/25/2013" Not great but not bad either. I couldn't help but fall for Eddie Chase though :) He is definitely my favorite character so far! "
— Jess, 10/21/2013" Loved this book, fast paced, lots of energy. "
— Shelley, 10/21/2013" Good plot and the book keeps you interested all the time.. Also loved the characters esp. Eddie.. "
— Rakesh, 10/13/2013" Mindless entertaining action. I love taking complete breaks from reality in books likes this. Fast paced and always ends happily ever after. "
— Caitriona, 8/27/2013" Good book and good series. "
