A RUMOR OF RICHES. A MAZE OF MURDER. AND THE WORLD’S MOST DANGEROUS, SOUGHT-AFTER PRIZE. Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase possess extraordinary pieces of an ancient puzzle that leads them from Singapore to the jungles of South America. Inside a storm of political and drug warfare, Nina is getting close to one of history’s greatest secrets: the mythical golden city of El Dorado. As one discovery unveils another, Nina realizes that a legendary Incan leader made a deal with his Spanish captors—and hid forever the real El Dorado. Now, Nina and Eddie face a maze of death traps and betrayals, including one that reaches into Eddie’s past in Afghanistan, even into his own family in England. Behind a waterfall in Peru is an unfound wonder of the world. And to get there, Nina and Eddie may have to sacrifice everything: their friends, their love for one another, even their lives.

"the action, chase continues , but the spirit is slightly less compared to it immediate prequel(Shiva's vault/sacred vault). Now that Sophia is back, and Chase Sr. has arrived, hoping for drama, archaeological wonders( 3 statues, nina's mytic powers) and lots of "WILDE CHASE"with the sequel."

" I have read all the books about Ninas and Eddies adventures throughout the world. I have enjoyed them all, some more and some less. Empire of gold is an enjoyable read with all the usual action, adventure and banter. Why change a winning formula? But the book could have used some editing (I am looking at you armoured car sequence in the middle) and the story isnt up to its usual standard. But the ending is very good and almost makes up for the books shortcomings. As usual if you didnt like McDermott before you wont like this either. "
— Mattias, 2/20/2014" another fast paced adventure with nina an eddie looking for the lost city of el dorado "
— Keith, 2/18/2014" horrible just horrible....nina is a awful wife, complainer, always mad, horribly written in this .book. the portrayal and obviosly framed eddie, horribly getting old or at least written that way....ugh hard to finish "
— Nikki, 2/13/2014" Oh this was another fantasic book by Andy McDermott. He sure knows how to deliver non-stop action. I have read all the books in this series, and this one ranks just as highly as the others! Can't wait for the next one! "
— Michelle, 2/9/2014" A blockbuster thriller for sure. nonstop action in which one must accept the premise that the main protagonist is just one short step away from being superman. The number of difficult situations that he gets himself in and manages to escape with only minor (I assume they are minor since he;s up and running off to his next encounter quite quickly) injuries is amazing. The story is Eddie Chase and his archeologist wife are hot on the trail of discovering the location of El Dorado, the city of gold, but, of course, there are numerous villains that would like to thwart their efforts. Will probably turn up as a movie someday. "
— Andy, 2/7/2014" Couldn't put it down! Love these books! "
— Katie, 2/5/2014" 2-parter this time. Next one not due out until next year. Entertaining, if light, read. "
— Matt, 1/19/2014" OMG!! I cannot believe the end of this book .. Totally blew my mind! Cannot wait to start the next one. "
— Caitlin, 1/18/2014" I read about half of this book. Too many ridiculous things were happening and I couldn't do it anymore. The main character is some kind of magical super hero who can do no wrong. At one point, I was reading portions aloud to my sister and we laughed together about the book's ridiculousness. "
— Jennifer, 1/18/2014" This series of books are predictable action yarns but they are done well. I really like this series this book included. "
— Jason, 11/1/2013" What an ending, desperately waiting for the next one now. "
— Tracy, 10/16/2013" fairly run of the mill lost treasure thriller. easy reading for those long journeys. "
— Colin, 10/13/2013" 'action man'book too fantastic to be believable at all. should be turned to a action/destruction,kill everyone movie! "
— Rae, 6/28/2013" For me the most exciting outing so far for Chase and Wilde full of unexpected twist and turns and you just can't wait to turn the next corner although with one eye firmly shut. "
— Winnie, 5/21/2013" Almost too much action at expense of plot and characters. "
— Frank, 2/13/2013" Kind of a slow begining yet came around towards the end. Good thing I didn't have to wait for the next book as this one was a bit of a cliff hanger. "
— Barbara, 10/8/2012" All the classic one liners and genre references in this 7th installment. Will Eddie and Nina make it to the end? "
— Chris, 10/2/2012" Enjoyable book. Sort of along the same lines of Indiana Jones but with a husband and wife team. "
— Robert, 9/4/2012" With the exception of the first book in the series this was my favorite. I really like the fact that there is a true cliffhanger in the Eddie/Nina relationship unlike in mosat books where they fight like a normal married couple and then make up. Definately worht the read. "
— Philip, 4/5/2012" The books are becoming a bit tedious. It's basically the same story in each book "
— Daniel, 3/8/2012" Great book, exciting, tons of detail, twists and turns. Finding El Dorado.... that would be so awesome.... and Eddie can do it. I love it when Eddie says "Fuckery and Buggeration".... so British. "
— Sheila, 2/23/2012" Wasn't disappointed, loved this book. "
— Nichola, 1/29/2012" Last opus in the series. Nice but not spectacular, mainly because it becomes kind of predictable... "
— Wogc, 1/21/2012" Another great adventure for Andy McDermott. The only thing I hated was the cliff hanger ending and having to wait several months for the next book to be out. So many twists and turns I never saw coming. "
— Heather, 12/3/2011" Rip-Raring ,In your face Adventure story . One of those books that are real page turners. Cant wait for more of the same. "
