American archaeologist Nina Wilde and her husband, ex-SAS bodyguard Eddie Chase, are back for another heart-stopping, globe-spanning adventure in the latest New York Times bestselling series that “raises the bar to please adventure junkies who prefer to mainline their action” (Publishers Weekly, starred review). A MISSING SCRAP OF ANCIENT PARCHMENT. THREE POLISHED PURPLE STONES. AND FROM THE SUNKEN WORLD OF ATLANTIS: THE GREATEST POWER ON EARTH. Nina Wilde and Eddie Chase have stunned the world with their discoveries, from the legendary sword Excalibur to the golden city of El Dorado. Now, by bringing together three ancient statues from three different continents, Nina is about to tap into a colossal energy source—one not felt since the days of Atlantis. But when the statues are stolen and Eddie is falsely accused of murder, forcing him to go on the run to hunt the man responsible, a violent struggle erupts among a secret, vastly powerful group that wants to control Nina and the earth energy. From a glittering, high-tech skyscraper in Japan to a harrowing chase beneath the Vatican and an underground military vault in Nevada, she and Eddie must piece together an astounding puzzle. For Nina Wilde is the key to a plot that will change the world forever. And Eddie is the key to keeping her alive.

"I finally finished. This one out of the series took me the longest to finish. Only because there was a underwater submarine scene that I wasn't feeling and really couldn't capture. So, I put it down for a bit and just recently I was in the mood to continue reading it, and I'm glad I did. The ending was one of the best out of the series. Actually, if you think about it, it could end here, but I hope it doesn't. I hope Nina and Eddie have many more adventures for years to come or at least 2 or 3 more books. lol"

— John, 2/20/2014" Another fast paced cracking adventure for Eddie Chase and Nina Wilde series and a thoroughly enjoyable read.as with all McDermott's books a nice easy to relax with on a soggy summers day. "
— Paul, 2/8/2014" I was quite excited to find this at the store the other day. The timing couldn't have been more perfect as I had just finished the book I was reading and was looking for the next one to pick up. I was not disappointed. This is another great istallment in the Nina and Eddie adventure chronicles. I'm hoping this isn't the end of them because you can't really tell by the ending. "
— Brenda, 1/31/2014" Loved it. Great addition to the series. All of his books are action packed, this was not excpection. It almost felt like the end of the series. Hope not. Nina and Eddie are some of my favorite. "
— Phyllis, 1/29/2014" Top notch action thriller that pulls in content and characters from pretty much all of the preceding books in the series. Definitely worth reading them in order, though. "
— Iain, 1/25/2014" I really enjoyed this book. I just couldn't put it down. I told my friends about this book and now the Library has about five copies of this book and they are always checked out. I really love this book it is a must read. "
— Karina, 1/22/2014" another adventure with the invincidle nina and eddie chase "
— Keith, 1/6/2014" Loved it.....another great novel. I've decided Jason Statham would make a great Eddie Chase and Emma Stone as Nina Wilde ! "
— Mitch, 12/27/2013" Fantastic!!! Cant wait for the next one! "
— Julia, 12/24/2013" This the best book yet. MIT keeps you on the edge of your seat with surprises at every turn. "
— Barbara, 12/7/2013" Another action packed thrill ride from Mcdermott. "
— Anna, 11/7/2013" Lots of action but a bit contrived... still had fun with it though "
— Michael, 10/5/2013" About 50 pages too long. "
— Sonny, 7/15/2013" This is temple of the gods under a different name. "
— Shane, 6/23/2013" Nina and Eddie take on YET ANOTHER billionaire megalomaniac. I swear to go the entire Fortune 500 must be made up of insane assholes. Very entertaining though so I can't really complain! "
— Matt, 6/14/2013" Nothing too serious, an easy read to kill some time "
— Crt, 6/9/2013" I love these books. They always seem to surprise me, there are some bits that I would never have seen coming. "
— Sarah, 3/26/2013" Indiana Jones meets Lara Croft :-) "
— Nathaniel, 2/22/2013" High on thrill and drama, yet Chase's competence to come out alive in abnormally deathly conditions is incomprehensible. Eddie Chase's escapes make up 30% of the novel, and described in far too many words than required, was hard not to skip reading a couple of them. "
— Nida, 2/16/2013" Awesome book. I couldn't put it down and the action was non stop as usual. The predicaments they get themselves into always have me on the edge wondering how on earth they are going to get out alive. "
— Samantha, 2/15/2013" Nina and Eddie are at it again. They can never seem to not find adventure and chaos. They find the serects of the ages and then they lose them. It was a good read for a quite weekend. "
— Barbara, 1/27/2013" Just got this. Read all his others and like the series so jumped right into this one and put down a slow mover. "
