Publisher Description

Mairi MacGregor hoped to never again lay eyes on Connor Grant. She was ten and one when he promised her he would one day build them a home in her beloved Highlands, spending their lives together. But she was ten and seven and foolishly weeping when he rode out of the Highlands to join the English Royal Army. She wouldn’t be so foolish as to waste tears on him now. Devoted to her beloved Scotland, Mairi believes Connor is a turncoat and a liar, and there’s nothing she despises more than that. No one but her brother, Colin, knows that Mairi is part of a rebel militia, quietly gaining intelligence and exposing traitors to Scotland using whatever means necessary. Now, at King James’ court in England, she’s determined to keep her missions secret and keep the one man with the power to bring her to her knees at arm’s length—her heart be damned.

Royal Captain Connor Grant never wanted to leave Mairi, but he’d had no choice. It was his duty to serve his family’s name, and no matter how he asked her to wait, his lass had refused. He’s never stopped loving her, though, and seeing the beautiful, passionate, yet mysterious woman she’s become at court has taken his breath away. But King James has powerful enemies, and Connor isn’t deaf to the whispers of treachery in court. So when the king disappears in the middle of the night with Mairi’s brother as his only protection, Connor suspects Mairi is involved. As one secret after another unravels about the king’s whereabouts and the whispers of a coup grow ever stronger, can Connor trust the one woman who still has his heart?

" If you like highlander series, this one is a really good one to try. I have found it much more interesting and better written than some of the new highlander series I have runs across lately. It does have some good historical detail which took a little bit of focus to figure out who the characters were and how they were connected. The stories are really good though I loved the romance between the hot highlander and their strong heroines. "

" This is my first historical romance in the highlander background, and boy did I love it! There's a reason it's called Tamed by a Highlander because Mairi had such a wild, fiery personality and only the hunky highlander Conner could tame her fight and passion. It took me a little bit to get into the story because I kept on getting confused between all of the different names and titles of people, but after that I just couldn't get enough. It was so much fun to read about how they both loved each other, but thought the other wanted nothing to do with them. Their romance was so sweet yet full of passion at the same time that it left me wanting so much more. One thing that took some time getting used to was how they all talked in Irish accents, using words like "ye" for you and "fer" as for. Having them speak like that in my mind though made the Irish men, especially Connor, all that more enticing with their accents (because I love me some sexy accents). This may have been my first highlander romance, but it will definitely not be my last! "

" Finally finished this one. So disappointed, I really really wanted to loved it but it wasn't there for me. I liked keeping up with the storyline regardng the Clan, and will continue the series, but I don't think there is a single way Mairi could have been more annoying. "

" I liked the story, but the narrator of the audiobook wasn't the best choice. Her accents weren't great. I find Paula Quinn writes smart historical romances. She does her research and integrates real historical figures in her ficticious story. I love this series. "

" It ended better then I thought it would, as the beginning didn't work for me. The heroine was just too willing to blame him for her problems, but she made her own choices in the matters. Overall, glad I stuck with it. The mystery plot was well done, and Connor made a great hero too. "
