Bound by duty…
Colin MacGregor was born to fight—for his beliefs, his king, and his family’s honor. After years away from his beloved Scotland, he yearns to return to its lush, green hills, and he can after he completes one final mission for the king. Sent to infiltrate a traitor’s home, Colin is determined to expose the treasonous plot and triumph on the battlefield—until he meets a sensual lass who tempts him toward other pursuits.
Betrayed by passion…
Lady Gillian Dearly is no stranger to temptation. Cast out of her family for bearing an illegitimate child, she’s now the ward of a barbarian conspiring against the king. Her only desire: freedom for her son and for herself at any cost, even if it means making a deal with the devil. Yet when a mysterious Highlander appears in their midst, his raw strength and smoldering gaze give her hope for a future beyond the castle walls—and promise a desire unlike any she’s ever known. Passion, however, comes at a price.

"Colin MacGregor has taken a undercover assignment to seek out traitors who are against the King. Colin misses his beloved Scotland, but his duty to his King comes first. Hired by a man as a mercenary, Colin meets a beautiful lass named Lady Gillian Dearly. She has been living at the castle of her cousin because she has a son out of wedlock and banished from her home. Even though Gillian tries to protect her son from her vicious cousin, it's Colin who comes to her aid. She sees how her son is treated by this handsome Highlander and love blossoms. I love how Colin and Gillian find love with each other. I hated when the final page was read that ended the story of the MacGregors. Thanks MS Quinn for all your great books. I look forward to the next one."

“The final book in Quinn’s Children of the Mist series is Scottish romance at its best: captivating, tender, and sensual with characters readers care about. While fascinating as a romance, it also delivers a message about moral courage. Definitely a keeper.”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ stars, Top Pick!)“Rich, evocative historical detail and enthralling characters fill the pages of this fast-paced tale.”
— Publishers Weekly (starred review)" Not quite as interesting as the other books in the series but still very good. I love how good conquers evil with the fighting warriors. "
— Diane, 1/24/2014" For once it wasn't the main characters in Paula's books keeping them apart. It was a nice change. I love the turn around in Colin from focusing on war to going home and having a family. "
— Jp, 1/16/2014" I enjoyed this book very much. "
— Ruth, 12/12/2013" Not as good as the previous ones, but fun none-the-less... "
— Tricia, 10/29/2013" Not enough action. WHOLE story basically takes place in 1 castle. "
— Darcie, 10/4/2013" Connor is such a strong leader. Yet again another great warrior in the MacGregor clan and Grant clan come together. "
— Cindy, 9/18/2013" This is a great series and you will love every book. Stories about the 4 children of the McGregor clan and their loves, losses, heartbreaks, mischiefness and all the rest. Funny times and heartbreak will enchant you through every page. "
— Debbie, 7/25/2013" The first 130 pages were boring but the story picked up. I started to enjoy the story. All in all it is a decent read. I might read her coming series about the childern of Colin and his siblings. Still my favorite author will always be Monica McCarty in historical Highlanders. "
— Vivian, 7/15/2013" Sooo good! Love Colin. This book was just as good as the others. Couldn't put it down! "
— Andria, 3/4/2013" Absolutely delicious. "
— Deborah, 8/4/2012" I loved Colin's character in the previous books. I was disappointed in this book. If the first half was condensed and more time was spent with the MacGregors, I would have liked it more. As the end was unfilling. I look forward to the Highland Heirs series. "
