Publisher Description

Ewan McCabe, the eldest, is a warrior determined to vanquish his enemy. Now, with the time ripe for battle, his men are ready and Ewan is poised to take back what is his—until a blue-eyed, raven-haired temptress is thrust upon him. Mairin may be the salvation of Ewan's clan, but for a man who dreams only of revenge, matters of the heart are strange territory to conquer.

The illegitimate daughter of the king, Mairin possesses prized property that has made her a pawn—and wary of love. Her worst fears are realized when she is rescued from peril only to be forced into marriage by her charismatic and commanding savior, Ewan McCabe. But her attraction to her ruggedly powerful new husband makes her crave his surprisingly tender touch; her body comes alive under his sensual mastery. And as war draws near, Mairin's strength, spirit, and passion challenge Ewan to conquer his demons—and embrace a love that means more than revenge or land.

"I absolutely LOVED this book. I was surprised too, but once I got used to the writing style I thought it was hands down awesome. Definitely a great romance for those out there who also like a little old world scottish history thrown in. :-)"

" This was a fun read. It was really similar to Julie Garwood highland books actually, if I didn't know better I'd say Garwood wrote it. The men that Bank depicts in her more present day books are very 'he-man' and don't really fit with the time, whereas they fit perfectly in the fiercer past world of the highlands where you had to be tough to survive. So far this has been the best novel I've read by Banks. My synopsis is that it's an entertaining light read but with little originality. "

" Wonderful book. First in the series and the second one (Seduction of a Highland Lass) is even better. Maya Banks really keeps your interest and knows how to tell a story:) I highly recommend this series. "

" I am a huge fan of historical romances set in the Scottish Highlands. I found this to be average. It follows the typical formula for the genre. The problem I have with it is that there was not enough action/turmoil prior to the resolution. It felt rushed. "
