New York Times bestselling author Amanda Quick presents an Arcane Society novel that reveals the passionate—and paranormal—secrets of proper Victorian London.
Attempting to recover a relic stolen from her family years ago, gifted crystal worker Leona Hewitt secretly makes her way into Lord Delbridge's private museum. But who she finds there is more entrancing than the crystal she seeks.
Thaddeus Ware is a mesmerist with powerful psychic energy—that doesn't seem to be affecting the woman before him. Instead, Leona seems to exert a rather hypnotic power over the hypnotist himself. After she gives him the slip, absconding with the crystal they recovered, Thaddeus fears for her safety. For he is on assignment for the secretive Arcane Society and knows that the crystal holds the potential for great destruction. It is the key to Lord Delbridge's membership in a shadowy group known as the Third Circle. The nobleman killed before to acquire the crystal, and Thaddeus has no doubt that he will kill again.

"Leona is a crystal reader. While dressed in mens clothing, she runs into (literally) Thaddeus while both are trying to steal a powerful crystal from Lord Delbridge. I quite enjoyed this Victorian era Arcane Society novel. The characters were well developed and the adventure quite good."

" I think this one would have been better in print. The audio was SO ANNOYING! But, that aside, the story fell short to me. The romance was flat and alot of the historic details about the arcane society I found somewhat boring. Again, I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had read it instead of listened to it. I had to finish so I could continue with the other books in the series that I already have. Overall I like the series, so I'll continue, but this one didn't do much for me. "
— Kerry, 2/18/2014" I'm a fan of Amanda Quick, and the storyline was fast-paced and fun. But I didn't care for the strange magic and paranormal powers in The Third Circle. "
— Gabbie, 1/31/2014" Not as good as others in series I felt a little slow "
— June, 1/29/2014" I love her Arcane Society series. Especially the victorian age era! "
— JazzRizz, 1/25/2014" I enjoy the Arcane society books. The Third Circle has a good blend of historical romance and paranormal, so folks who enjoy either of those genres will enjoy this book. "
— Amily, 1/23/2014" As always with these arcane society books, a good mystery romance with a little paranormal thrown in to spice things up. A fun good read for the summer. "
— Kim, 1/20/2014" I really have been enjoying this series. A little too mature for my 13 year old, though. Just a bit too descriptive with the sex. "
— Michelle, 1/16/2014" Great story line fast pace and good love story. "
— Marilyn, 12/25/2013" I am re-reading this series and upgraded from 4 to 5 stars. This one worked for me. I'm not going into explaining, just read it, if you like Amanda you'll like this one. "
— Steven, 12/20/2013" I read this at the beach and really enjoyed it. It was very different from what I was expecting. I did not realize that it is serial. I will read the others. "
— Diane, 12/14/2013" Pleasant enough but not up to Amanda Quick's regular standards. The characters and the plot both lacked substance. "
— Kathi, 12/4/2013" I really like this series. I think she writes them very well and it's harder to solve these issues in that time era than it would be now. I'm not usually into historical type novels, but these capture my interest. "
— Trish, 10/3/2013" This was on its way to be a "great story". The sudden and ill-placed dead of one of the evil characters comes as shower of cold water on a bonfire; you still have the wood and the ashes, but it is not a bonfire anymore. "
— Aisley, 1/6/2013" No complaints from me about Ms Amanda Quick/Jayne Ann Krentz/Jayne Castle... I love the Arcane Society series and I really like that she writes them in past, present, and future.. The reading order can get confusing but its spelled out pretty easily on her page.. "
— Imjstgr8, 8/14/2012" This was light and quick, sometimes exactly what a gal needs to lighten things up a bit. It was a cross between, let's see, the Twilight Saga and Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. "
— Kelly, 6/30/2012" Classic Amanda Quick mystery. I like the Arcane Society stories. "
— Wanda, 4/21/2012" Love these Arcane Society stories! "
— Susan, 2/10/2012" this one kind of the second sight, the frist book in the series. Leona, the main female character, did get on my nerves, but not as much as venetia did. Thaddues and Leona do make a good pair, when they aren't fighting. "
— Brianna, 1/7/2012" Good book in the series, but there's something about these that just leaves me a little flat. It's like we only get to see the surface or something. Good, but not great.... "
— pianogal, 11/2/2011" Really should be 2 1/2-- it wasn't as good as some of the other books in the Arcane series, mostly because the characters weren't very developed. "
— Kate, 10/9/2011" I do like the way the author writes. I have read her before. Interesting is how I would describe it. If you don't mind the hypnotists, crystal reading sorceress storyline, then it was good. Definite romance with details. "
— Heather, 9/27/2011" Fun romance with a paranormal twist. "
— Deborah, 8/27/2011" I was very disappointed....this book does not work on a mystery or romance level. "
— Pat, 8/5/2011" Lovedd it ! The quirky characters make these books namely: namely Leona , Thaddeus , and his aunt . This series is greatt . (: "
— Ariel, 6/23/2011" they are getting better and better :) "
— Tabitha, 6/16/2011" I'm a fan of Amanda Quick, and the storyline was fast-paced and fun. But I didn't care for the strange magic and paranormal powers in The Third Circle. "
— Gabrielle, 6/4/2011" I enjoyed each new twist and turn in this novel. The Arcane series are very fascinating to me. I hope they continue.
The Victorian elegance is beautifully written.
Hurray for Quick! "
— Sherri, 5/14/2011" Good story. It helps if you have read the other Arcane novels, but is not absolutely necessary. "
— Shelley, 1/17/2011" I did like this book. The main characters were well written and interesting. "
— Kathy, 1/17/2011" This was on its way to be a "great story". The sudden and ill-placed dead of one of the evil characters comes as shower of cold water on a bonfire; you still have the wood and the ashes, but it is not a bonfire anymore. "
— Aisley, 1/15/2011" I always enjoy Amanda Quick's books, and while I'm torn between thinking the Arcane Society books are sillier than most and that they're fab, I do just glide right through them in a pleasant fashion. They're fluff, but everyone needs a little fluff in their lives, right? "
— Aviva, 1/14/2011" Classic Amanda Quick mystery. I like the Arcane Society stories. "
