After five long years in federal prison, Griff Burkett is a free man. But the disgraced Cowboys quarterback can never return to life as he knew it before he was caught cheating.

Foster Speakman and his wife Laura lived a charmed life before fate denied them the one thing they wanted most: a child. Fresh out of prison and out of prospects, Griff agrees to do a job for the Speakmans that demands secrecy. But he soon finds himself once again in the spotlight of suspicion when an unsolved murder comes back to haunt him. While safeguarding his new enterprise, Griff must also protect those around him, especially Laura Speakman. Griff stands to gain the highest payoff he could ever imagine, but cashing in on it will require him to forfeit his only chance for redemption—and love.

" The characters were easy to relate to, the plot was intriguing, and I never knew what was coming next! Another of Sandra Brown's hits! "

" Griff,Foster, and Laura are two of Brown's most annoying and least likeable characters, ever. Griff is your average womanizing, gambling, dumb as a box of rocks football player. He keeps making the same dumb mistakes over and over again. And Laura is a cold, snooty, rich womean who slept with her boss and then married her boss. Foster goes from a faithful adoring husband to a crazy murdering millionaire. I found myself skimming the last 100 pages. Definitely not one of her best works. "

" I love it when a star goes bad and redeems himself. Star Cowboy quarterback throws a game to pay off his gambling debts serving five years for his gambling. When he returns to Dallas, everybody loves to hate him even the detective that continues to stalk him, beats up his friends on the edge, and beats him up. When a wealthy leading citizen ends up dead with the QBs fingerprints on the weapon, it looks doubtful, he can escape another prison sentence. "

" I love Sandra Brown books, they all have the same formula but different characters and story lines. I will pick up any Sandra Brown book and really get deep into the story......can't put 'em down once I start. "
