Born into a fine old Charleston family, Hammond Cross is determined to be the city's next district attorney-without sacrificing his integrity. Prosecuting the sensational murder of real estate magnate Lute Pettijohn could be his ticket into the office. Yet while Hammond anticipates his success, someone near him is plotting his downfall-- Steffi Mundell, colleague, ex-lover, and rival for the DA's office--Rory Smilow, the homicide detective without equal and Hammond's avowed enemy--the wily and beautiful Davee Pettijohn, Lute's widow and Hammond's lifelong friend, who's too honest to mourn the husband she despised--and Hammond's prime suspect, the mysterious woman who shares the secret that would be fatal to Hammond's ambitions. For the first time in his career, he's bending the rules in favor of the suspect. All clues point to her guilt. Yet she holds in reserve the perfect alibi-Hammond Cross.

"The only other book I've read by Sandra Brown was RAINWATER. It was wonderful, but it stated that it was a departure from her regular genre.THE ALIBI is a fantastic mystery that had me guessing right until the end. I'll be reading more of her books in the future! "

" Was not in the least impressed with this book. After reading the True to the Game series and loving it I was expecting Teri to bring her A game. Did not like this book at all. It was just stupid. Sorry i am being so harsh but this is the worst book I have read in a long time. "
— Sy, 1/20/2014" This surprised me. I expected, from the initial language being used in it, to find it difficult to read, but I got hooked. I was really curious to see what Daisy Mae did with herself and all her perils and was impressed enough to want to keep reading. At the end of the book, there was a teaser for Alibi II, Daisy Mae twenty years later that I will want to read too. Without too much of a spoiler, I'll tell you, she did well, but her perils aren't finished. "
— Joyce, 1/20/2014" This is an action that reminds me of the TV show Law & Order. I can see this as a movie and being a hit. There is a Alibi II coming out in 2011 and I plan to read it. "

— Varrsity, 6/25/2013" I loved this book from start to finish don't know why it got bad review but it's a must read "
— Shonds, 12/25/2012" Alibi was refreshing. Its good to know that an author can write a book with substance without 200 pages of sex & drugs. I have read the "True to the Game" series & am glad that she took a different turn with this book.I cant wait for part 2. "
— Cicely, 12/11/2012" This was an action packed book. Looking forward to seeing what happens in Alibi II. "

— Cheryl, 12/28/2011" Good read, still waiting on alibi 2 "
— Toni, 11/20/2011" I fell asleep reading it and woke up at 2am to finish it. It has a bit of cussing but the plot and story line keeps it interesting. This is the author of "True to the Game" and TTTG 2. The book received mixed reviews but I liked it. "
— Sixrs, 11/18/2011" Book got more interesting towards the middle. "
— Rachel, 7/4/2011" The perfect combination of nteresting characters along with plot twists and surprises! "

— Rene, 2/20/2011" This book read like one of my Mystery Party scripts-- everyone had opportunity, motive, and desire to be the killer. But who pulled the trigger??? Totally enjoyable book with some great characters I'd like to see reappear. "
— Kay, 2/10/2011" One of many authors I enjoy reading. "
— Laurie, 2/2/2011" Unbelieveably boring, predictable with dull characters who I find hard to believe talk like they do. "I wish you no umbrage" Jeesh. This didn't even make a good beach read [I live in Florida so can read beach reads all year long]. Definately skip this one "
— Jean, 1/28/2011" Damn Good.... Hammond Cross a very powerful and intense character. Dr. Alex Ladd, his equally subtle and yet strong mystery woman. Do not miss the story of this amazing story of a man torn between his duty and protecting the woman he loves. "
