Publisher Description

A tender and quirky novel about the romantic choices we make from the author of the New York Times Bestseller and Reese's Book Club Pick, The Last Thing He Told Me Emmy Everett is reluctantly heading home to New York for her brother Josh’s wedding. She has spent the last three years in a fishing town in Rhode Island and, having little to show for it, she doesn’t particularly want to answer the questions she is sure to face about her (ex)-fiance, her (questionable) career choices, her (unknown) future. But she is still shocked when her typically resolute brother Josh confesses he is having doubts about his imminent marriage – and he asks Emmy the hardest question of all: what do I do now?

With seventy-two hours until the wedding, Emmy embarks with Josh on a road trip to help him find a mystery woman, and to answer some long overdue questions about who he wants to spend his life with. It isn’t only Josh who has some lessons to learn. Along the way, Emmy discovers some undeniable truths about what she wants from her own life; and she begins to realize that perhaps her own happy ending is not as far away as it seems.

"I picked this up in a South Beach bookstore when on my honeymoon basically because it had a favorable blurb by Melissa Bank, one of my favorite girl authors who writes about complicated relationships, and I was not disappointed. The main character, Emmy, goes home for her brother Josh's wedding, and is not looking forward to it, basically because she has ran away from her life and her now ex-fiance, and is not exactly living up to her career dreams. Once there, she is quite shocked when her with-it brother is having doubts about his imminent marriage, and she embarks on a journey wiht him to seek out a mystery woman from his past. Of course, Emmy learns a lot about herself on the way, and about her brother, her family, and what the future holds for her. I remember thinking, "Wow. This is exactly how I felt before I met Kevin. This book gets what it's like to be 20-something and lost, unsure, and searching." I was enthralled!"

" I just grabbed this at the library - who could resist this title? Delightful book. Frustrating that this is her first, and recently published - how long will I have to wait for another? "

" Another Laura Dave winner. Really well written as always, and a nice story about waiting for love at the expense of one's present life. Lots of insight as always....Laura Dave is a master of thought provoking ideas!!! Great read!! "

" I wish books had ratings, kinda like movies. So you could choose to read a book with vulgar language thrown in at the end, rather than happening across it. It just ruins everything for me... as much as I was enjoying the story line. "

" One of my favorite books ever. Emmy's relationship with her brother is lovely, and Beringer is just...I love him. The writing is wonderful - simple but effective, with one-liners that will make you "mmhmm" out loud. I re-read this often, just to remember what it feels like to fall into a book. "

" Typical Chick Lit - was just okay. Couldn't get behind the main charecter so I had a hard time with it. Was a book club book and was a hung jury - some loved, some didn't. I was rather ambivilant. You will read it and forget about it instantly. "

" This book is cute and quick read. You can tell it is the author's first book as i found myself skimming parts that were overally descriptive...ie about all 107 wives. It is a fun book with a couple of twists and worth the read...good beach book "

" I read this book while on vacation and really liked it. The pacing is good and the characters drew me in, but the ending is a bit predicable, so it made for a great beach read. It reminded me of Melissa Bank's The Girls Guide to Hunting and Fishing. "

" I don't recommend starting this book before you go to sleep because you won't want to put it down. You'll read later than you should and you'll wake up early to find out what happens next. A tale of love, knowing when to say goodbye, and how to start again. Romance ~ gotta love it! "

I've been in the breaking-off-an-engagement boat, so I related to the story and yet cringed at the way some of the characters handled themselves. Still, a very interesting story about trying to find your direction in life. "
