"Loved reading this set of books about the background of Stefan and Damon..loved seeing how Lexi fit into the picture, and it was very interesting to see Klaus at the end of the third book. Glad I read these books, and I would recommend to any fan of the Vampire Diaries books or the show. "

" I feel that I would have liked this book more if I had not already read The Vampire Diaries series. Katherine's story was completely different when Stefan was sharing it with Elena than it is in this book. I did enjoy it, but the differences on the stories was fairly annoying. "
— Helena, 2/17/2014" Decided to read Origins first as Stefan's Diaries are supposed to be prequels to the original ones L.J Smith wrote. In saying that I know a ghost writer wrote Stefan's Diaries to tie in with the series. Gave it a shot, actually quite liked it. I'm going to finish the prequels before I read the actual L.J Smith ones. Although, I have a feeling I will prefer her writing a lot better from reading reviews of it. "
— Claire, 2/15/2014" This book was a huge ride! The story was so in-depth, and covered a lot of details that were either very vague, or completely left out in the TV series. Totally worth reading. "
— Jono, 2/14/2014" This was a good quick read. It isn't like the other Vampire Diaries books more like Stefan and Damon's past from the show. It is more or less just an expanded version of events that happened in the past shown on the TV show. Because I am a big fan of the show and enjoy it way more than the original book series I liked reading this book and learning more about what happened in the brothers past. It was also nice from Stefan's P.O.V (although I would have prefered Damon). 3.5 rating. "
— Brittany, 1/28/2014" I've never watched the tv series, nor had any wish to, knowing how much different it would be from the books that I love.. This book was obviously based upon the tv show; from the looks of Katherine to the setting to the relationship between the Salvatore brothers, it was all different than in the original book series. It was well written, but a disappointment, and I now know that I was right in my choice not to watch the show. "
— Shana, 1/26/2014" I'm sure the book was fine, but since I'm an avid watcher of the show found myself really bored with the book. I don't feel like it added anything to what I knew of the storyline already. I never finished this book and don't feel any need to. "
— Kate, 1/24/2014" I've read all of the Vampire Diaries books, really liked the first four, not so much the recent ones. I am a big fan of the television series. I don't know who wrote this book but it was boring and not very well written. I struggled to get through a little over half of it and then sold it to the used book store. "
— Terry, 1/22/2014" Starting today... cannot wait! "
— Heidi, 1/18/2014" Pretty much relating nothing to Smith's original books except the main characters, you would probably only enjoy this if you were a huge fan of the TV show or have not read any of the "creator's" original, genuine works. "
— Alise, 1/17/2014" L:J smith is not a good writer sorry her first three books were good but now just stop. "
— Julie, 1/7/2014" this book is pretty disappointing. it is so patterned from the tv series that theres nothing new to discover. its like a script taken out from the tv series. i expected more. "
— Doll, 1/4/2014" Very different from the previous books in the series; it is more like the tv show. It is still a fun read. "
— Tamara, 1/4/2014" There's a reason these are so readily available at the library with no wait...and yet I keep listening to them (probably because they are so readily available with no wait!!). Not great - goofy, cheesy, but still, they keep me distracted during my runs. "
— Robynne, 12/15/2013" This book was reletively normal compared the original series. I quite liked it. "
— Brittany, 12/15/2013" It explains more about Stefan and Damon's past but the book just seemed to be another way to cash in on the craze over the show, which is really all it was. "
— Mandi, 12/10/2013" More interesting than the other Vampire Diaries books! "
— Marie, 4/7/2013" It's a good book, but based on the show...the show is better. "
— Sarah, 2/15/2013" This is very interesting in light of the series. An Elena-less story focussing on the boys? What's not to like!? Having watched the series I found the brother's loving relationship bittersweet. Really good. "
— Elaine, 12/27/2012" Followed the tv series. Was more mature than I thought it would be. Not for preteens. "
— Jean, 10/25/2012" Really liked this. I'm a big fan of the tv show and this book follows the show pretty close. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series "
— Sheena, 6/18/2012" Fans of the TV series would be happy to find that unlike the original series, this mini series is actually on track with the show. Know the story BEHIND the two beautifully sculpted (OH GOD I LOVE YOU) vampires. "
— Bianca, 4/25/2012" can't really get used to the change in the story caused by the tv-series. Liked the story in the first books better "
— Vibeke, 3/20/2012" OMG I LOVED this book it was pretty amazing, i read it in a day. It was really interesting reading it in Stephan's POV :D can't wait untill the next book in the series :) "
— Beccy, 11/16/2011" It was interesting to read about Stefan's history from the viewpoint of the show instead of the original novels. Very interesting to see how different Damon was back then. "
— Myndi, 11/12/2011" katherene looks better with damon "
— Soumyamitra, 11/9/2011" i thought it was really book im reading the second one right now and i like it "
— Kassandra, 9/25/2011" It was predictable and way too short "
— Torie, 5/12/2011" I like it better than the other two but still I don’t like the concept of TVD not based in the book just like on TV. I felt an urge to finish this series though. "
— Dhezza, 3/22/2011" This is a very good third installment. Damon is rotten, Stephan is Sweet. And the carnage is surprising. "
— Cheryl, 2/25/2011" The ending was good. I liked Lexi being there. "
— Insomniac, 2/12/2011" Ehhhhh... No where near as good as the first two... "
— Milly, 1/25/2011" I think i will stick to my love of the tv shows and leave the books alone !!! "
