"Amazing how much the movies have deviated from the books! That being said, I enjoyed this book in that it gave you an idea how much of an ordeal it was for women back in wagon train days - the hard work, the boredom, the fears. This book follows Missie and Willie as they head out west to fulfill Willie's dream of starting a cattle ranch. Missie is supportive yet her heart aches for her old home and the nearness of her parents. And upon arriving at their new "home", her homesickness and boredom continues until she realizes that what's important has always been there, she just didn't see it yet. Nice story."

" This book is the best one of the series. Missy and Willy are a great couple. I will listen to the whole series again "
— Connie, 2/28/2022" Book #3 in the Love Comes Softly series....excellent read! "
— Laura, 2/17/2014" Same as the second one, it didnt' capture me like the first one. "
— Mariana, 2/15/2014" again another great book by this author. "
— Kathryn, 2/13/2014" Jeannette Oak was the first Christian Fiction author I read over 20 years ago. She had me hooked after one chapter into this book and thousands of books later I still primarily only read Christian Fiction. I have every one of her books which I am saving to share with mt daughter in a few years. "
— Trish, 2/8/2014" This book is much like the others. Another pioneer story of hardships and trials and a man who is fully devoted. In fact, it became so predictable that I did not finish it. "
— Dianne, 1/21/2014" I really like how this gives you a good idea of the life pioneers had. Spiritual input woven throughout--very clean and uplifting book! "
— Krista, 1/18/2014" You can get lost in Janette's stories, I loved them...... "
— Frossie, 1/17/2014" good sequel--neat growth "
— Michelle, 1/10/2014" A great story of strength in the midst of hardship. "
— Dawn, 12/30/2013" LOVED this book of the series! Very exciting, kept me on my toes! "
— April, 12/21/2013" This one was extra special this time through, as I am about to take my daughter (my baby) to college. Back in prairie days, though, when they said good-bye they didn't know if they'd ever hear from one another again, much less see each other. Really put my life in a better perspective. "
— Joy, 12/16/2013" The writing was mediocre and the plot was mildly interesting. It wasn't a waste of time, but I have no need to read it again. However, it was interesting to read about non-LDS pioneers and how they dealt with their trials and tribulations. "
— Tisha, 12/7/2013" Missie's story! I wonder how this author can endear us so much to these characters in such short books (just over 200 pages) but she does and we love them and all of their joys and sorrows. "
— Jeanette, 12/1/2013" such a great book...waddaya expect? the rest are great. "
— Annalise, 11/18/2013" Though normally not my kind of read, very good. "
— Sheri, 9/24/2013" A lovely read. Real peaceful like and full of strong promises. "
— Alicja, 9/15/2013" Great book......... "
— Weeping, 5/28/2013" I adored the fact that this sweet heroine was really disillusioned with the life that was waiting for her "out west." If it was not Christian fiction, I'm fairly certain her thoughts would have ranged out to "WTF?" I'm glad I stuck with the series after the disappointing second book. "
— Krissy, 5/7/2013" this was one of the first "christian books I read", Debbie and Mrs.Richmond were very good a recommending books to read for a very, very young Christian :) "
— Rosia, 1/16/2013" This book was okay, but I didn't like it as much as the first two in the series. Her 'tragic events' really didn't seem like they were that tragic. It was a pleasant, easy to read depiction of frontier life. I will go on and read a few more in the series. "
— Christina, 1/15/2013" A lovely addition to the Love Comes Softly series. I really enjoyed it! =) "
— Hannah, 11/21/2012" this whole series is pretty good, but i feel as though the religion part gets a little too cheesy and over-emphasized starting with this book. "
— Laurin, 7/8/2012" I enjoyed these books, but they can get a little tedious to read. Getting minute details can be helpful for understanding the time (if you don't know what it was like to deal with horses, cook with a wood-burning stove, etc.) but it gets a little boring. "
— Susan, 6/26/2012" I loved the books in this series as much as I loved the movies. "
— Lindy, 2/27/2012" This is the 3rd book in Janette Oke's Love Comes Softly series. I read the first two and then this consecutively. I liked them all just fine, but probably would have given this one 4 stars if I had taken a break between them. "
— Daisy, 8/26/2011" My favorite out of the four books I read in this series. Maybe because it talks about struggling and living a pioneer life. Excellent. "
— Cindi, 8/16/2011" I liked this book a lot but it was not as good as the first 2 books. "
— Kari, 4/30/2011" this whole series is pretty good, but i feel as though the religion part gets a little too cheesy and over-emphasized starting with this book. "
— Laurin, 3/18/2011" again another great book by this author. "
— Kathryn, 2/1/2011" This story brings in ranching in the West as Missie and Willie start a new life. Very sweet. "
— Sue, 10/15/2010" I enjoyed these books, but they can get a little tedious to read. Getting minute details can be helpful for understanding the time (if you don't know what it was like to deal with horses, cook with a wood-burning stove, etc.) but it gets a little boring. "
— Susan, 9/15/2010" A lovely addition to the Love Comes Softly series. I really enjoyed it! =) "
— Hannah, 5/9/2010" I really like how this gives you a good idea of the life pioneers had. Spiritual input woven throughout--very clean and uplifting book! "
— Krista, 4/21/2010" It took me about half way into the book before I was really into reading this one. I really liked it from there on. "
— Tressa, 3/30/2010" Same as the second one, it didnt' capture me like the first one. "
— Mariana, 1/13/2010" Cute story. These are really quick and easy reads. I have watched all the movies and the farther in the series I get, the more I realize that the movies are far different than the books. It's fun to read the books and see the differences. "
