Twenty years have passed since youngest daughter Belinda's story in Love Finds a Home. Marty and Clark's spiritual heritage has been lovingly passed on to their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. And now beloved granddaughter Virginia faces the greatest test of her young life. Caught in that difficult period between childhood and adulthood, feeling that she really doesn't fit anywhere, Virginia struggles against what she considers to be unreasonable restrictions and expectations. Her parents are too strict, her sister is too bossy, and God seems too far away.
Then a new girl arrives at school, a big-city girl ready to stir things up in the small prairie town. Jenny seems to represent everything that Virginia is longing for—her looks, her daring, and her alluring freedom from constraints. Breaking the rules and instigating gossip become special thrills for the girls. But then comes the day neither girl will ever forget.
This is a final series featuring the beloved characters from Love Comes Softly.

"Do you remember that one friend from childhood that as much as you knew they were 'bad news' you somehow couldn't keep away? I was reminded of that experience in my childhood and the challenges of growing up. (book 1 of 4 in the series) "
— Christine (4 out of 5 stars)
“As always with Oke’s books, the characters are charming and engaging. Fans of the Love Comes Softly series will certainly demand this compelling and well-written follow-up.”
— Library Journal“Gavin’s soft drawl and sweet, clear voice seem just right for this tale.”
— Booklist“Oke’s legions of fans will be glad to hear that this novel begins a new series…A bittersweet, winning story.”
— Booklist" I found this to be a simple and good read. I thought it would be better for teenagers than adults, but if you want to read the rest of the series you should start here. "
— Jana, 2/16/2014" Oh, the trials and tribulations of being a teenager. I love this series. "
— Rachel, 2/13/2014" All her books are easy reads and just something to enjoy without having to think but still has a life lesson points to the Father. "
— Mom, 2/13/2014" I had never read any of her work. A friend gave me this book and I thought it was a good time to read and see if I would be interested in checking out anymore of Oke's books. It was a nice book with a nice story, but I think I would have gotten more out of it in my teens or early 20's. The story line is great for a young girl who is dealing with peer pressure, finding herself and realizing as much as we try to be friends with some people, it just isn't always meant to be. My friend gave me another book by her as well. I plan to read it to to see if the writing is any different. "
— Valerie, 2/12/2014" I thought that the angle of this book was interesting and the plot was good. I would have given it a higher rating but I thought that Jenny lacked depth and her part of the story did not feel resolved at all. Overall, this was a good continuation of the Love Comes Softly series "
— Meghan, 1/24/2014" I thought this was a really sweet book. "
— Annalise, 1/18/2014" pretty good.... "

— Kristy, 1/3/2014" My husband and I just finished reading this book. It is defintely for the teenage set. I could see thirteen year old angst all over its pages. But it was very fun and interesting. It does have a religious bent, but it isn't overbearing. "
— Rishi, 12/27/2013" I wouldn't suggest these books unless you have read the "Love Comes Softly Series" and enjoyed it. These are all about Marty's granddaughter Virginia, Belinda's daughter. Clark and Marty and still alive, too! "
— Barb, 12/25/2013" Oh, this was a fun series. I liked Belinda's daughter Virginia very much. "

— Cambria, 2/18/2013" The story got me right in the heart in the end. I think it may be the best since the start of the series. Part of me would love to read a sequel to it, but knowing that Marty & Clark probably wouldn't be around would be bittersweet. "
— Jennifer, 1/3/2013" This was a cute book. It reminded me of Anne of Green Gables, only a little more serious. It'd be great for young girls--it deals with friendship & trying to fit in. "
— Miriam, 12/31/2012" I am interested in reading more in this series. "
— Jencey/, 12/29/2012" Always love Janette Oke and this one is no different! "
— Lisa, 12/15/2012" I was drawn to the book because of the easy read, and the questions asked by the author of the young girl's Christian morals. It gives you the sense of hope and love. "
— Missy, 12/10/2012" The authors propose for writing the book is to show that don't try to hurry though the stage that you in. While you are there God use you for His gory. Don't try to hurry your propose for being there. "
— Caroline, 12/1/2012" Good book, but too much review from series...kind of an after-thought. (But if you read the series, you gotta read it!) :) "
— Katie, 11/12/2012" This book was a good one, but for some reason it seems a bit to descriptive for my taste! Slower read than I tend to like! 1st in a series, so intend to read the rest. "
— Christine, 6/19/2012" Really, I give this a 3.5. Not my favorite of Oke's books that I've read, but well written with a good story and message. "
— Saralyn, 1/12/2012" Oke's best...although I might think that simply because I read this novel when I was about the same age as the heroine. It spoke to me then; I rather think it would speak to me now. "
