In this one, he saves Meg MacKinnon while she is on her journey to court in order to find a husband. She is a strong, intelligent woman and for the most part I like her character. But occasionally she just annoys the heck out of me. There is alot of political intrigue in this story and the historical detail is wonderful. This is one of the things I most enjoy about MM's books. " Though I have given it 3 stars I would like to give it 3 1/2. The characters were good well developed and likable. My problem was the way it was written. I prefer to read the Gaelic language and then I know I'm in another land. Just putting in "Lass" doesn't do it for me. My other problem was with the heroine that kept getting in the way and the plot was too easy to figure out. On a good note I do want to read the next in the series. "
