The ruthless enforcer of Scotland's most powerful clan, Jamie Campbell
will use any means necessary to vanquish lawlessness and unrest among
the feuding Highland clans. Seduction is a game as easily played as
subterfuge, but when Jamie poses as a suitor to a rival clan's daughter
in order to expose treason, the line between duty and pleasure is
suddenly blurred. Ebony-haired, ruby-lipped Caitrina Lamont defies him,
denies him, and arouses him like no other woman.
Caitrina has no
intention of forsaking her beloved father and doting brothers for a
husband—especially a hated Campbell. But Jamie's raw, sensual strength
and searing kiss melt her resistance. When her idyllic world is
shattered, Caitrina's only hope to save her clan lies in the arms of
Jamie Campbell, the enemy she holds accountable for its ruin. Can their
tenuous truce, born in the velvet darkness of passionate nights, forge a
love as strong as the sword that rules the Highlands?

"I really enjoyed this book. The story is about two clan enemies and how they overcame adversity and moved forward building on love and trust. The main characters were exceptionally well matched and you watched them grow together throughout the story. It's hard to view that time period with the knowledge we have today. Men ruled period. Monica in my opinion is one of the best authors that brings to life what the highlands were like with actual history brought into each and every one of her stories. Highland Warrior is a story where you get a sense of what it was like to live in those times where clans fought amongst clans and it was brutal. One had to be strong living in that time period and it probably wasn't a very romantic period but Monica saw to it that we sighed, got a little pissed because of it being a mans world but as we turned the pages we watched Jamie and Caitrina overcome mistrust and work on building something wonderful together. It was a real page turner."

“[McCarty] presents a unique insight into the concepts of loyalty, justice, and love. Deep emotion and true love prove the Scots proverb ‘A law is not justice.’"
— RT Book ReviewsSexy, full of action, and realistically violent, this story of 17th-century Scotland touches on issues of family loyalty and duty and expertly kicks off McCarty's back-to-back Clan Campbell trilogy.

— Judy, 2/20/2014" Read the three book trilogy. It was beautifully written,.and her descriptive method of writing made me feel as though it was happening in my presence. I couldn't put the books down. Great read. "
— Marilyn, 2/19/2014" If you are a fan of Monica McCarty then this one is for you. Highland Warrior is a great medieval romantic suspense starring lead characters Jamie and Caitrina who find love. Great characters, a tight plot, an atmospheric historical setting, and of course, well written by Ms. McCarty, which makes this book a must to read. "
— Nicole, 2/1/2014" Sometimes a terrific hero is all you need for a great story, and that's what this book had. The heroine was way too wishy-washy for me, but overall I loved it! "
— Michelle, 1/2/2014" I didn't really expect this to be a literacy genius of a book. But it does have hot Scottish lairds, though for some reason it was missing the kilts ... "
— Denise, 1/2/2014" Great book, I really liked the story line and how it reflects actual history. Characters are great! "
— Kasia, 11/18/2013" This one took about a minute and a half, before I got into it. It was a familiar but good story, and I was excited abou reading one page after another. Will keep reading these of course... Really like this genre! "
— Diane, 11/15/2013" This is the first Monica McCarty novel I've read and I loved it! There's a lot of tension between the characters and I missed reading about those sexy Scots. I just love it when they take control. "
— Joy, 11/9/2013" a great start to a new series! Looking forward to the next. "
— ♡KarLynP♡, 9/13/2013" Irrestible, full of love, loyalty, and betrayal. Will Caitrina follow her heart or do her loyalties lie with her clan? "
— Jodie, 8/3/2013" This was my first romance/ Romance read. Not too shabby, but I am a sucker for anything Highlander. "
— Pinda, 7/15/2013" This book was just ok for me. I thought things probably dragged a bit in the plot, and Caitrina probably could've trusted a bit more, but she did lose almost her whole family, so I'm not sure. But I certainly prefer the Highland Guard series. "
— Highland-dreamer, 4/11/2012" Good read - 1st in her new Campbell trilogy. The only thing that kept it from a 5 star review is the heroine. Borderline TSTL and wouldn't/couldn't trust her man when the crucial time came. Other than that, good read! "
— Sherri, 3/6/2012Monica McCarty is the New York Times bestselling author of the Highlander trilogy and the Campbell trilogy. After a short but enjoyable stint as an attorney, she realized that her career as a lawyer set against her husband’s transitory life as a professional baseball player was not exactly a match made in heaven. So she traded in her legal briefs for Scottish historical romances with sexy alpha heroes. She lives in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband and their two children.
