Publisher Description

Best-selling author Monica McCarty captivates millions with swashbuckling Scottish romances like The Hawk. Brilliant seafarer Erik MacSorley has never encountered a gale he couldn't weather or a woman he couldn't win-until he drags a wet, half-clothed "nursemaid" from the Irish Sea. But Ellie's ordinary dress belies the truth that she's the spirited daughter of an Irish nobleman. And her determination to resist Erik's charms is a challenge he can't resist.

"Well, this is my second highland guard novel. I read #6 first, and although I liked it, I didn't love it. I've been downloading them from my online library, hence the lack of sequence in my reading. I downloaded this one, the story of Hawk, and was pleasantly surprised. I loved it!!! I love the characters, especially Ellie. She's described as plain and ordinary, but she is far from that. Our hero, Erik, is described as handsome, beautiful and carefree, but he's much more than that. They are thrown together in a difficult situation (I don't want to give any spoilers away), and I gotta say, They way Ellie doesn't put up with any of Erik's 'shite', was awesome! I loved how we get to know them both just as they get to know each other, and realize what amazing people each of them are. I fell in love with the characters just as they did. I haven't read much from this author, but she does an amazing job bringing the story to life. I look forward to read other highland guard books. If they're as good as this one, I'm in for a treat! :)."

About Monica McCarty

Monica McCarty is the New York Times bestselling author of the Highlander trilogy and the Campbell trilogy. After a short but enjoyable stint as an attorney, she realized that her career as a lawyer set against her husband’s transitory life as a professional baseball player was not exactly a match made in heaven. So she traded in her legal briefs for Scottish historical romances with sexy alpha heroes. She lives in the San Francisco Bay area with her husband and their two children.
