It was just another after-work happy-hour bar downtown, where business professionals unwound with a few drinks, complained about the boss, maybe hooked up with someone for the night. Until something went terribly wrong. At first it was just a friction in the air. The noise intensified. The crowd seemed oppressive. Some sharp words were exchanged, some pushing and shoving. Then the madness descended. And after twelve minutes of chaos and violence, eighty people lay dead. Eve Dallas is trying to sort out the inexplicable events. Surviving witnesses talk about seeing things — monsters and swarms of bees. They describe sudden, overwhelming feelings of fear and rage and paranoia. When forensics makes its report, the mass delusions make more sense: it appears the bar patrons were exposed to a cocktail of chemicals and illegal drugs that could drive people into temporary insanity — if not kill them outright. But that doesn’t explain who would unleash such horror — or why. Eve’s husband, Roarke, happens to own the bar, yet he’s convinced the attack wasn’t directed at him. It’s bigger than that. And if Eve can’t figure it out fast, it could happen again, anytime, anywhere. Because it’s airborne. . . .

"This is one series of which I'm guaranteed to buy each new installment on the day of its release, though I refuse to buy it in any other format than audiobook (hats off to narrator Susan Eriksen for a consistently phenomenal listen). Because there have been so many books about Lt. Eve Dallas and her crew, the story lines have gotten a little predictable, but I sincerely don't mind because I've fallen in love with each and every one of the characters."

" I love the development of the Eve Dallas character in this novel. Not such a hardass to those she cares about. "
— Paula, 7/27/2017" Doesn't matter if this is book 32 or 320, Roberts always brings it. Just when I thought the book was over she added another exciting element. This series never gets old. "
— Amber, 2/20/2014" From the start this book I was hooked! The story line is intriguing and scary at the same time. Just as it was coming to an end it pulled you back into the story. It was fantastic! "
— Hayley, 2/18/2014" I always enjoy this series. "
— Kelly, 2/8/2014" Love Eve and Roarke..... "
— Vicki, 2/2/2014" A return to form for the series after the unrelentingly depressing slog that was New York to Dallas. Lots of murder and depravity, but presented in the nice, light-hearted way we have come to expect. "
— Kate, 1/9/2014" Fantastic book, loved all the developments, and the things that happened, and the extra twist at the end, was fabulous! Loved it, can't wait for the next book! "
— Louisa, 1/8/2014" Review to come --- "
— Sparklybearsy, 12/31/2013" As usual, this mystery kept me on the edge of my seat. Another great installment to the series! "
— Kerry, 12/31/2013" If you have never experienced Dallas and Roarke you don't know what your missing. I keep expecting the books to start repeating themselves and everytime am treated to an even better story than before. "
— Tracy, 12/12/2013" not the BEST of the In Death books, but I'll never say a bad word about them! "
— Tiffany, 12/7/2013" The ending seemed to be an add on because the book wasn't long enough. Basic Dallas material. "
— Nick, 12/6/2013" As usual, fast paced and fun to read. Oddly, the best part about all of this for me was the amazingness of Mira (subconscious Mira, even!) and the awesomeness that was Agent Miyu Teasdale. Please can we have more Miyu? I was begining to despair of ever meeting a Fed I liked, but she's won me over. "
— Maya, 12/5/2013" I found this to be a solid addition to the story and though yeah the personal stories and jokes are still the same, the suspense pulled me in. I do think JD Robb needs to change things up a bit as far as the characters and their interactions are concerned. "
— Saly, 11/3/2013" As always. Another good book "
— Desiree, 10/8/2013" always love Roarke n Eve =) "
— Shelly, 6/9/2013" These are the only books that when I reach the end, I feel sad, because I never want the stories to end! We need a Dallas live-feed! "
— Kelli, 5/30/2013" Although story was good, it wasn't the compelling read I'm used to with Eve and Roarke. Still wishing we had more of Eve's history and how she became a police officer. "
— Barb, 5/14/2013" One of my favorites. Witty Eve, determined Eve, vulnerable Eve and Kick ass Eve. Good plausible storyline, just one more great book in the In Death Series. "
— Laura, 2/28/2013" another good suspense thriller from JD Robb. Loved the visit with Eve and Roarke. "
— Georgia, 1/23/2013" As always J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) delivers an awesome read. Her plots and characters really keep you engaged in the story. I always cheer when Lt. Dallas gets the bad guy and sometimes his grandma in the end. I can't wait to read the next one! "
— Melissia, 11/28/2012" This book really grabbed me and didn't let go. I had to force myself to stop listening at several points I could get some sleep. It was so exciting and full of dramatic tension! Very highly recommended. "
— Charles J., 9/19/2012" Another good read from J.D Robb, I have to say as much as I love the characters I am really glad there wasnt as much sex in this story as I get bored with it and find myself skipping these pages just to get back to the story as they are always so good. "
— Clare, 9/16/2012" As can be expected from a J.D. Robb mystery, it's a very compelling plot and a very interesting ride. Robb is a master at this sort of thing and he's at the top of his game with this well-written novel. 2 thumbs up! "
— Andy C.G., 9/15/2012" Released today. I purchased it today, of course!Started 9/12/12 "
— Terry, 9/12/2012" Pretty decent mystery though the series is getting a little long in the tooth at this point. "
— Jaco44, 9/8/2012" A fast paced mystery from one of the best authors in the business today. It kept me guessing until the very end! "
— Kim D., 9/5/2012" I'm huge fan of the "In Death" books and this one, while a little slower paced than I liked (compared to earlier books) was quite good. The plot was extremely unique. "
