"I liked the fact that this one of Sandra Brown's tales was set in a North Carolina mountain town, which immediately sets itself apart from some of her other novels. She sets the scene perfectly with her brilliant descriptive writing style and then she lets the story unfold on the page at your fingertips. Although not my favorite of her tales, it was a very good read and reflected many true stories that have been rearing their ugly heads all over America throughout history. Yet another of Brown's well written novels that must only be accompanied by a cup of hot tea and enough time to immerse yourself in the story."

“Lust, jealousy, and murder suffuse Brown’s crisp thriller…The snowy suspense will cool off Brown’s fans during the dog days of summer.”
— Publishers Weekly“Both the weather and the confined setting give this creepy thriller a wonderfully claustrophobic edge. This book has twists aplenty and characters with more than a little excess baggage. Leave it to Brown to dish up pure terror and chills.”
— RT Book Reviews (Top Pick!)“Brown offers up her usual blend of steamy romance and suspense, as well as an entertaining subplot featuring the town’s outwardly prudish high school English teacher. Recommended.”
— Library Journal“A neat mix of romance, suspense, and plot surprises.”
