Mr. Shaitana is famous as a flamboyant party host. Nevertheless, he is a man of whom everybody is a little afraid. So when he boasts to Hercule Poirot that he considers murder an art form, the detective has some reservations about accepting a party invitation to view Shaitana's private collection.

Indeed, what begins as an absorbing evening of bridge is to turn into a more dangerous game altogether.

" It's been a while since I read any Christies but I enjoyed picking this one up. Poirot attends a dinner party given by the mysterious Mr Shaitana who has said he collects murderers. During an evening of bridge Poirot and three others play in an adjoining room, whilst Mr S. falls asleep by the fire in the room with another four players, getting himself stabbed during the evening. It's up to the sleuths to work together and investigate just who has what in their past, why they'd been invited, and who could have committed the murder. With more twists and turns than a maze, this kept me guessing to the end, changing my mind almost on every page. "

" This book started off really intriguing but I got a little bored through most of it. The last 100 pages ended up having me unable to put it down as Poirot was close to telling us who did it........ "

" I am a HUGE fan of both Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot. This book is no exception. It was a great book, well written and the mystery, as usual, kept me puzzled until the end. My reason for the low stars really has nothing to do with the book and more to do with the fact that I know less than nothing about the game of Bridge, for which this story is loosely based around, considering the murder was committed during such a game. After researching the game on Wikipedia, I am interested in going back and reading the book again to see if the star rating can be increased. I'll update once I have. "
