Publisher Description

In this breathtaking Agatha Christie mystery, the Third Girl sharing a London flat with two others announces to Hercule Poirot that she’s a murderer and then disappears. The masterful investigator must figure out whether the missing girl is a criminal, a victim, or merely insane.

Three young women share a London flat. The first is a coolly efficient secretary. The second is an artist. The third interrupts Hercule Poirot’s breakfast confessing that she is a murderer—and then promptly disappears.

Slowly, Poirot learns of the rumors surrounding the mysterious third girl, her family, and her disappearance. Yet hard evidence is needed before the great detective can pronounce her guilty, innocent, or insane.…

"This one kept me guessing. Poirot again is paired with Ariadne Oliver, (who may be Christie doing a parody of herself.) The plot revolves around the death of a very young woman, who shares a flat with two other girls. A "third girl," as Oliver explains to Poirot. Drugs, money, and secrecy all play their part, and as is often the case in Christie, it is hard to tell the honest from the conniving. Hugh Fraser does an admirable job portraying both Poirot and Oliver, (and all the other characters, too.) Thoroughly enjoyable."

" The plot of Third Girl seemed a bit outlandish. For instance, one of the key parts of the plot hinges on a chance meeting in a café. The conclusion was also a bit over the top. However, the story was still a quick and fun read. "

" Definitely not the usual Agatha Christie-apparently this was written quite later in her career. It's definitely not what you expect..and sort of a crazy ending. But it's still an enjoyable book and Poirot is still a great character to read. "

" An aging, dithering Christie, writing about an aging, dithering Poirot. She's trying to throw in all sorts of "modern" stuff -- psychiatry and drugs -- and she's out of her depth. He's stitting around and missing connections. I didn't enjoy this one much. "
