Publisher Description

Soon to be a major motion picture sequel to Murder on the Orient Express with a screenplay by Michael Green, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh alongside Gal Gadot—coming February 11, 2022!

Beloved detective Hercule Poirot embarks on a journey to Egypt in one of Agatha Christie’s most famous mysteries.

The tranquility of a luxury cruise along the Nile was shattered by the discovery that Linnet Ridgeway had been shot through the head. She was young, stylish, and beautiful. A girl who had everything . . . until she lost her life.

Hercule Poirot recalled an earlier outburst by a fellow passenger: “I’d like to put my dear little pistol against her head and just press the trigger.” Yet under the searing heat of the Egyptian sun, nothing is ever quite what it seems.

A sweeping mystery of love, jealousy, and betrayal, Death on the Nile is one of Christie’s most legendary and timeless works.

Death on the Nile is perfect.” —The Guardian

“One of her best. . . . First rate entertainment.” —Kirkus Reviews

"There is a reason Dame Agatha Christie is one of the standards by which the genre is set. There is a deftness in the layers and characters that face "the little Belgian" here. How much are the turn of events human nature, how much chance? Impossible not to be drawn in...but few of us will solve the case. (Certainly I'm not a match for Poirot's brain.) I also have to give credit to David Suchet. I can't picture anyone else doing a better job. It's no easy thing to portray every character in the book using only one's voice, and he did it supremely well. "

Quotes

  • “A peach of a case for Poirot. I take my hat off to the author for as ingenious an alibi as can well be imagined.”

    — Sunday Times (London)
  • “The main alibi is of the first brilliance…the descriptive work hits, as it were, the Nile on the head.”

    — Observer (London)
  • “In Death on the Nile, Poirot, on vacation in Africa, meets the rich, beautiful Linnet Doyle and her new husband, Simon. As usual, all is not as it seems between the newlyweds, and when Linnet is found murdered, Poirot must sort through a boatload of suspects to find the killer before he (or she) strikes again.”

    — Amazon.com
  • “One of her best. Poirot, again on vacation, falls foul of a murder on board a Nile river steamer, followed by two successive murders, obviously connected. A sophisticated group, an ingenious plot, clever deduction, swift-paced narrative. A little romance on the side lends glamor. First rate entertainment.”

    — Kirkus Reviews (starred review)
  • “It seems like an insolvable crime, until the famous detective Hercule Poirot starts to investigate. Death on the Nile deserves its reputation as one of Christie’s best travel mysteries…Eighty-odd years after her first book was published, Christie and her mysteries are more popular than ever. Recommended for all collections.”

" I enjoyed this thoroughly - I like 30s Christie - but it turned out I'd guessed the killer's identity from the get go - and I never try to. It was more of a "how done it" than a "who done it." "

" Another great book by Agathe Christie. I think I liked this one just as much as "Murder on the Orient Express" and probably more than "The Murder of Roger Ackroyd" or "And Then There Were None". Christie truly was a master. "
