Late one night, two teachers investigate a mysterious flashing light in the sports pavilion while the rest of the school sleeps. There, among the lacrosse sticks, they stumble upon the body of an unpopular games mistress—shot through the heart point-blank.
The school is thrown into chaos when the “cat” strikes again. Unfortunately, schoolgirl Julia Upjohn knows too much. In particular, she knows that without Hercule Poirot’s help, she will be the next victim.…

"Classic whodunnit setting in a boarding school. It's like reading Malory Towers with an additional twist :) I've read this one before but still the ending thrilled me a lot. My only complain is Hercule Poirot showed up way too late!"
— Astrid (4 out of 5 stars)
“To read Agatha Christie at her best is to experience the rarefied pleasure of watching a faultless technician at work, and she is in top form in Cat among the Pigeons…The elaborate yet flawlessly clear interweaving of a number of subplots is a marvel of technique, and the school itself becomes as interesting as the murders which threaten to destroy it.”
— New York Times" A nicely complicated mystery set in an English girls' school, with a variety of interesting characters, one of whom is not what he or she seems . . . but is not a match for Hercule Poirot, who reveals all. "
— Bea, 2/17/2014" I was kept in suspense the entire time. Clever and intriguing. Loved the reader Hugh Fraser! "
— Miriam, 2/5/2014" I could never tire of reading about Hercule Poirot. A summer night, fluttering curtains, and Belgian man who at the opportune time says, "I don't approve of murder!" "
— Dianne, 2/3/2014" CAT AMONG THE PIGEONS by AGATHA CHRISTIE (1973) "
— Risa, 1/29/2014" This is my first Agatha Christie book, and I was really excited. It was pretty good- you did not see anything coming! "
— Tia, 1/22/2014" For anyone who is curious (like a cat!), I read the Bantam "Agatha Christie Mystery Collection" edition (it's a hardback with plain black cover & a gold silhouette of Agatha Christie). "
— Kelly, 1/20/2014" Not my favorite type of book. "
— Dawn, 1/18/2014" Facinating mystery that is set in the priviledged world of an English girls school pre WW II. "
— Liz, 1/8/2014" Great book to read on a rainy day with your tea and crumpets! Murder at a respectable private girls school, missing jewels and kidnapping - classic Christie and hugely enjoyable. "
— Lynette, 12/30/2013" Found this at the house where we were staying and it was a perfect read. Took place at a girls' boarding school, which made it particularly fun. Have read it before, but still enjoyed trying to remember all of the twists. "
— Briel, 12/25/2013" My favorite of the Poirot mysteries I have read. I'm not really sure why. I just found it at the right time, I guess. My favorite of the David Suchet films is The Mystery of the Egyptian Tomb. I love all the spooky Egyptology stuff. "
— Stella, 12/6/2013" It was alright. Pretty different from the other mysteries I've read by her. "
— Bethany, 12/1/2013" I quite liked it, not my favourite Christie, though. "
— Anja, 7/29/2013" "Cat Among the Pigeons" had a strong start but a weak finish. I like my Agatha Christie with a great deal of suspense in the third act, but "Cat Among the Pigeons" came up lacking. It's worth a read though, as it's an enjoyable novel. "
— Zach, 2/5/2013" Ahhh, I love Agatha Christie!!! Her books are so captivating and I love them. She writes the best mysteries, and I love that the ending is always a surprise, and I love how I am always kept reading. "
— Lina, 12/15/2012" Who doesn't love Agatha Christie "
— Ali, 11/9/2012" A good mystery, though I didn't realize it was a Poirot until he turned up two-thirds of the way through the book. "
— Rik, 8/31/2012" I really liked this Hercule Poirot mystery. Some interesting twists, but don't recommend taking too much time to read it, since it loses its flair if you let it sit for a couple of days. "
— Amy, 6/6/2012" There are a LOT of loose ends in this book, along with some overly conspicuous clues and dialogue that are not at all like Agatha Christie. Could it be that she had a ghostwriter helping her at some point? "
— Terri, 3/7/2012" I first read this book when I was in my early teens. I think it was one of the first few Agatha Christie books that I read. I enjoyed it just as much now as I did back then, if not more. "
— Vikki, 10/26/2011" always a good read. :) "
— Gheeta, 10/19/2011" Not her best, but pretty good. "
— Ariel, 8/9/2011" I have loved rereading all the old mystery books that really started it all....<br/> "
— Corrine, 6/13/2011" I had read this when in my teenage time. "
— Cornelia's, 5/24/2011" I liked the PBS Masterpiece Mystery version more. "
— Alex, 5/8/2011" Hercule Poirot baru muncul di sepertiga terakhir, pelakunya tertebak tapi paparan ceritanya asik. "
— Desti, 4/14/2011" For anyone who is curious (like a cat!), I read the Bantam "Agatha Christie Mystery Collection" edition (it's a hardback with plain black cover & a gold silhouette of Agatha Christie). "
— Kelly, 3/19/2011" How incredibly British. Interesting take of a mystery in an all girls' boarding school, albeit too predictable. (You could determine who the killer is a mile away!) I think what makes it fun to read are the in depth character studies, which gives this book a bit more soul. "
— Sandst, 3/18/2011" great book. got about 1/4 of the way through it only to realize I'd read it before..... I'm such a fan of Hercule Poirot! "
— Trisha, 3/8/2011" Not my favorite type of book. "
