A ruby necklace worth four million dollars appears to have been stolen, and its owners, Monica and Eleanor Levert—twin heirs of a wealthy Natchez clan—seem a bit too anxious to get their hands on the insurance money. It sounds a tad suspicious to Sarah Booth, who’s been asked to file a report, but she can’t be sure someone’s committing fraud—or any other crime, for that matter—until one of the sisters is kidnapped. The police suspect the heiresses are playing some sort of game. But when Sarah Booth and her partner Tinkie begin to scratch the surface of the family’s sordid past, they uncover more skeletons than any one closet can hold. Throw in a sneaky romantic gardener, a lurid tell-all biographer, and a body plunging off a plantation cliff, and the kidnapped twin plot thickens. But Sarah Booth really starts seeing double when Jitty the ghost shows up—as a pair of sisters—and two crimes become deadlier than one.

" This series is wonderful! I really enjoy listen to this narrator! She has a great way of distinguishing between the different characters accents and voices. I do wish that you had all of the books in the series as there are books missing in between and some things take place that you miss hearing how it happened because the book isn't there. Overall, I really enjoy this series and the narrator. Please try to add more of this series into you shop so it's easier to keep up with the cast of characters. "

" I really liked this book in Carolyn Haines Series however I will warn you that I found restating the obvious quite a few times. It didn't detract from her story but it was something I have never ran across before in her series. "

" I read this latest Sarah Booth Delaney book so fast I hardly came up for air. I love the world the author has created and can't wait to visit it again. This was one of the best. It reminded me of the old Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books I grew up with - with a touch of gothic romance tossed in. "

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Gloria | 6/26/2012

  • 3 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 53 out of 5 Jeanie Jackson | 5/13/2012

" Maybe I just wasn't in the mood, it was good but something was lacking. I considered not rating it until I read it again, but don't know if I will. I like the books where she is home, so maybe the interaction of her friends was all that was missing. It was at least ok and maybe better than ok. "

  • 2 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 52 out of 5 Cheryl | 4/6/2012

" I love Sarah Booth and have enjoyed all of the books of this series to date. That said, this one felt off. Sarah Booth seemed to have lost her heart and to call the plot highly improbable and implausible would be a kindness. "

" There wasn't nearly enough Jitty in this one to my way of thinking. it was ok, though. i didn't see through the mystery, (course, i never do. I'm way to literal in my thinking.) and it was easy enough reading. just hope there's more jitty in the next one. "
