"I loved this book. I had already determined that I would read the entire series from this author before I finished this one. It was very interesting with little twists and turns that popped up from out of nowhere. There is no way that the reader can assume the next move which is great because it keeps you guessing. Sarah Booth Delaney character hints on a familiar place within every woman out there. <3"

" Very good - almost a modern-day "Gone with the Wind" murder mystery. Mississippi delta "Daddy's Girl" down on her luck kidnaps a dog and becomes a PI to earn enough cash to save the family homestead, because the ghost of an old family slave suggested it. One of the funniest cozy mysteries I've read. "

" The narrator, Sarah Booth Delaney, has one of the best voices I've encountered in quite some time. This mystery kept me guessing the entire time, and just when I was considering something a red herring, it turned out to be a key element. I look forward to reading more of this series. "

" This book was an entertaining read. My favorite character was the resident ghost, Jitty. I plan on reading the next book of the series to see how the main character, Sarah, evolves in her new-found profession. "

" A delightful and well-written book set in the Mississippi Delta country. The story of Sarah Booth Delany, an impoverished genteel woman of the South, and her sideways step into private detective work. Very witty, and lots of local color and her "haint" is a hoot. "
