It’s a gorgeous autumn day in Georgetown. The Democratic candidates for president and vice president of the United States are dutifully glad-handing voters and the media outside a grand estate where a national security conference has just been held, bringing together the world’s greatest minds to discuss the issues that are threatening the country. It’s American politicking at its best.

That’s when all hell breaks loose.

When presidential candidate Josh Alexander’s motorcade is ambushed by a group of terrorists, the nation is thrown into turmoil. Two weeks following the attack, Alexander is carried to victory by a sympathy vote, but his assailants have not been found. On the surface it appears to be the work of al-Qaeda, and soon the FBI and the rest of the government begin scouring the world for jihadists. But then CIA director Irene Kennedy and Special Agent Skip McMahon are presented with classified information so toxic that they consider destroying it altogether, as it contains intelligence pointing to some of the most powerful players in Washington.

Enter Mitch Rapp, the one man reckless enough to follow the evidence to its explosive conclusion. His journey takes him through the shadowy world of contract killers into the darkest corners of the globe and eventually back to Washington, where the fragile pillars of power are shaken to the core.

" This was another great read by Vince Flynn. It's amazing how I get mad about characters in the book and want Mitch to do his thing. This book makes you think about what people will do to get what they want, even if they already have it good! "

" A nice break from Flynn's terrorist-chasing routine. This time it's more about domestic intrigue, but still enough exotic locales to keep Flynn's fan's interested. Also (almost) no torture scenes and more character development than usual. My one minor problem is that Mr. Flynn creates Democrat presidents who are WAY too supportive of the CIA and the work they do. It's probably his way of appearing unbiased, considering his clearly right wing inclinations. Not a deal-breaker, but takes away from the realism of his stories just a bit. "

" This could not have been written by Flynn - must have had a ghost doing it. The writing is uneven, but the thing that really struck me was the full descriptions of what everyone was wearing - constantly. I would recommend skipping this book, not worth the time to read it. "

About the Author
Author Vince Flynn

Vince Flynn (1966–2013) was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. After struggling for years to get published, his first novel, Term Limits, hit the New York Times bestseller list and started a trend for all of his novels, which have become perennial bestsellers. He earned a sterling reputation for his research and prescient warnings about the rise of radical Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism.
