" This is a good example of the potential for political intrigue in fantasy novels. Imagine you were staging a grass-roots monarchical revolution, and had to worry about networks of spies, magical bugs, supernatural beings, and the favor of a Trickster god. This novel lets you imagine such, and figure that its heroine would probably be better than you in most accounts. This is a great book, and the series a must read for any intersted in intelligent fantasy. "
