In Stephanie Laurens's newest novel, a passionate man and
a daring woman confront the ultimate question
What Price Love?
Dillon Caxton, protégé of Demon Cynster, is now a man of sterling reputation, but it wasn't always so. Now impeccably honest, he is the Keeper of the Register of all racing horses in England. His standing and aloofness makes Dillon undeniably desirable to young ladies, but he remains uninterested.
Until Miss Priscilla Dalloway erupts into his life. Lady Priscilla affects Dillon as no other ever has, and what fascinates him is that she will do anything to see what's in the Register. Her twin brother, Russell, who had left home to work with the finest racehorses, has disappeared. Priscilla knows clues to his whereabouts can be found in the tome Dillon Caxton refuses to let her see.
Dillon convinces Priscilla to tell him all and to trust him with her twin's life. Together, Dillon and Pris locate Rus, only to discover that his life is threatened by the perpetrators of a massive betting swindle. They embark on a journey riddled with danger as they seek to overturn the swindle and expose Rus's deadly enemies. And along the way they discover the answer to that age old question: What price love?

"This book totally worked for me. The Cynster series is predictable and formulaic, which sometimes is exactly what I'm looking for. I refer to reading Stephanie Laurens as literary mac and cheese. Well, this was homemade mac and cheese fresh from the oven with bread crumbs on top. First, kudos to the author for breaking out of the standard sex scene progression mode. Second, I found the characters and their relationship surprisingly believable."

“Laurens has proven her ability to tell a fast-paced story brimming with delightful characters (it is such fun to revisit Demon and Flick), a scintillating bit of suspense, colorful backdrops, and sizzling love scenes. Here is one more in her long line of entertaining novels that are sure to satisfy.”
— RT Book Reviews“A complex sizzler.”
— Library Journal (starred review)“Crowd-pleasing, hot-blooded romance…[with a] well-researched horse-racing backdrop.”
— Publishers Weekly“Laurens writes a story that moves like a Thoroughbred out of the gate. Totally captivating, with rising emotional tension—this is a guaranteed winner.”
— BookPage“Another of the author’s lusciously sensual historical romances. Deftly laced with passion and danger, What Price Love? is sexy, suspenseful, and splendidly satisfying.”
— Booklist" Ever since I started reading this book, I felt that there was something wrong. And I feel compelled to point out that I really didn't really like the beginning and the ending. The beginning because I think it took too long for Priscilla to trust Dillon. When I got frustrated with that, I skipped a few pages forward and found out that Priscilla almost got raped by 4 men which didn't really sit well with me. It felt like it wasn't really necessary because the mystery behind the horse racing substitution was enough. But I guess just to add another suspense to the story that was included. Can't say I'm disappointed with this but I just couldn't finish it. Well, I'm not giving up reading Stephanie Laurens. Much to choose from from her novels. Looking forward to reading more.. "
— Valen, 1/14/2014" So this is what the two main characters have in common: they're both so unbelievably gorgeous that beauty means nothing to them and they're able to look beneath the superficial. Seriously? And the steamy scenes got so flowery and abstract, I just started skipping over them. THAT is unheard of for me. It's a good thing Laurens is such a good writer because this formula that she uses with all the Cynster novels is wearing thin. "
— Vivian, 1/13/2014" I didn't find either of the lead characters (Dillon & Pris) interesting, and the plot was essentially a re-tread of Harry & Flick's story, so the only thing that kept me reading was the setting and the supporting characters. There are better books in the "Cynster" series - this one was flat for me, so flat I have never bothered to purchase it after reading the library eBook. "
— Bree, 12/11/2013" A decent romance/crime escape read in the cynster series. Formulaic but enjoyable. It lost steam for me about half way through, though. "

Better then the once I read last week. "
