Publisher Description

Bold, daring, larger-than-life heroes and feisty, intelligent heroines burst from the pages of Stephanie Laurens' exciting historical romance novels. Devil's Bride is rich with engaging plot and sensuous character development. Governess Honoria Wetherby values her independence. She would rather travel the world than marry and give some man control of her life. Then one stormy evening fate changes all her plans. She stumbles upon a mortally wounded young man in the woods. When the stranger dies, she is trapped in a cabin with his body and with his newly-arrived cousin, Devil, whom she soon learns is aptly named. He insists that their unchaperoned night together has compromised her honor, and, therefore she must marry him. Narrator Simon Prebble tantalizes listeners as he breathes life into these intriguing characters. Tension levels run high as Honoria plots to thwart Devil's marriage plans and tries to help him find his cousin's killer...the same madman who is now plotting to murder Devil.

"Classic traditional regency, until you get to the love scenes somewhere around a third of the way through. They are much steamier and more graphic than most, and in plenty (though neither gratuitous nor repetitive). The characterizations are strong, just on the edge of being over-the-top (which I enjoyed). Our heroine is exceptionally feisty, our hero especially domineering. Their relationship developed slowly and exceptionally believably. The banter is fabulous; the setting, social customs, and behavior felt very authentic. The mystery was a nice plot device, but not particularly compelling. Neither was the story itself (which isn't to say it was boring, just not a page-turner). This book was (apparently) written before it was decided (by someone somewhere) that each scene should only have one character's point of view (preferable the hero or the heroine's). I found it refreshing, changing perspectives provide more information in fewer pages. I plan on reading more books in the series when I'm in need of a predictable, solid, well-written regency (with a nice dose of good sex)."

" I love Stephanie Laurens, and am working my way through her audiobooks again. I enjoyed this story, and how the plot developed, and the characters. It was well written. However, the sex scenes drag on, and on and on and on. I think there was one sex scene that I felt wasn't it's own chapter. So, if you like long sex scenes this is good, if not, you can just skip through them, there are not too many. "

" I first read this book several years ago and fell in love with it. I have now read it several times and it never gets old. I'm a sucker for an arrogant Duke and his bride. And this is one of the best of that genre. Devil is the head of the Cynster family, and Honoria Prudence is a member of another old and distinguished family, though she is not out in society. They meet unexpectedly and he immediately decides she is his next duchess. She takes longer to convince. There is a mild mystery but it is the romance between Devil and Honoria that make this book so special. The way that these two proud, strong people fall for each other is wonderful to read. There is humor and sweetness and lovely, steamy scenes between the two of them. Such a joy to read! "

" Really enjoy this series. Funny historical romance novels with a little mystery/sinister character to be stopped throw into each book. Best part there are several books to keep you occupied and a spin off series. The characters really grow and develop in this saga. "
