" Normally, I'd love a good Stephanie Laurens' book... But this is a failure. It's sooooooo obvious it is her first historical romance and that she doesn't even like the type (How could a lady who respects herself NOT wear gloves at ALL time?). The characters "understood" each other a bit too much to my liking. All in all, if the other historical romances books she'd writen are that bad. She should stick to her field: contemporary. "
— Saral, 2/14/2014" This was the first book I've read by Stephanie Laurens. It was a good introduction to the Cynster Series, but I prefer a more layered story, like A Rake's Vow, which weaves a mystery through the romance. "
— DeAnna, 2/14/2014" I'm not a fan of prequels but I promised I would read all the Cynster books. "
— Maggie, 2/14/2014" okay, I just read a book that is basically a Harlequin romance - I'm not ashamed, really. "
— Heather, 2/7/2014" For some reason I never fell in love with these two characters. I am glad everything worked out for them, but the story just didn't grab me. I did finish it, but I am glad I can now move on to another book. "
— Jaime, 2/2/2014" Absolutely LOVE this book!!!!! "
— Christine, 1/17/2014" 4 swags of holly "
— Denae, 12/19/2013" This was not the cover on the book someone gave me. There was a wreath. I thought it would be lovely to read a Christmas story! Too bad it was just lady porn :( I didn't even finish it. "
— Katie, 12/18/2013" Prequel 2 series: Duke & Dowagr Duchess meetg; vry gd "

— Yvonne, 4/23/2013" Just went on too long - I could not sustain any sense of suspense past three quarters of the way through. "
— Amy, 12/25/2012" What's not to like in a romance novel! "
— Nicole, 4/20/2012" THE Cynster romance Sebastian meets Helena in a convent courtyard. "
— Andrea, 1/20/2012" Loved the story overall, And the characters, but this could have been 20-30% shorter and it would have been great. "
— Kelly, 12/14/2011" I'm glad she wronte this book since it was the beginning of the Cnyster Series it was the beginging of the love story and you learn the character or the head of the household. "
— Stephanie, 11/15/2011" I only read this book once, and only for background info. Sorry, a romance where we already know the man eventually cheats and has a child by another woman isn't the least bit appealing. "
— Carissa, 10/16/2011" It is actually the story of the "Dowager Duchess" I read it as the PreQual instead of Book 7.5 of the Cynster series. "

— Kit?, 7/14/2010" THE Cynster romance Sebastian meets Helena in a convent courtyard. "
— Andrea, 6/13/2010" The story of Helena and Sebastian never grabbed me. Perhaps it was knowing about his infidelity later (Cynster #3?). Apparently I forgot how bad it was because I ended up buying it as an eBook, after I had already bought and sold the cover. "
— Bree, 3/17/2010" I'm not a fan of prequels but I promised I would read all the Cynster books. "

— Amy, 12/10/2009" For some reason I never fell in love with these two characters. I am glad everything worked out for them, but the story just didn't grab me. I did finish it, but I am glad I can now move on to another book. "
— Jaime, 12/5/2009" While I enjoyed this book, what I can't understand is how a woman of Helena's temper and passion managed to overlook Sebastian's infidelity later in their marriage. I relize that this book does not cover that topic, but to me, to make this story truly good, it would have to address it somehow. "
