“Greg Iles’s storytelling blazes like a supernova” (BookPage) in this ingeniously twisting and atmospheric New York Times bestseller.
After winning the most dangerous case of his career, prosecutor Penn Cage decides to remain in his Southern hometown to raise his young daughter in a safe haven. But nowhere is truly safe—not from long-buried secrets, or murder.… When the nude body of prep school student Kate Townsend is found near the Mississippi River, Penn’s best friend, Drew Elliott, is desperate for his counsel. An esteemed family physician, Drew makes a shocking confession that could put him on death row. Penn will do all he can to exonerate Drew, but in a town where the gaze of a landmark cemetery statue—the Turning Angel—never looks away, Penn finds himself caught on the jagged edge of blackmail, betrayal, and deadly violence.

"I truly loved this book. This is the first book from this author I've read. Others have told me his others are better but I was interested in this topic. I work in a field where I work with HS kids. It was different hearing what they go through from an author. I'm not going to give plot details you can read the excerpt or the other reviews. Just want to say this book is hard to put down. A lot of plot twists and good character development. Loved the secondary story of Penn and Mia. Interesting to hear what goes on in a middle age male's mind. I would highly recommend this to others. Now I'm off to find some of his other books."

" Turning Angel continues on with the Penn Cage series where Penn one’s to the rescue of a friend, and his fathers Medical Partner. Again an outstanding story that gets you completely invested in a whole new set of characters to add to the base. Iles is truly a master story teller and literary artist. "

— Merrikay, 2/2/2014" Hmmmm, fast paced and full of excitement. However, very sexually explicit. The subject matter, statutory rape, brutal rape and murder was not really something I wanted to read about. If this had not been a book club read, I never would have picked it up. "

— Margo, 7/17/2011" I really enjoyed this book. The story line was good and keep me interested. The author does tend to repeat parts of the story a bit too often throughout the novel. There are some passages in the novel that I found particularly intriguing. Set in Natchez, MS and includes some history of the town. "
— Kelly, 6/9/2011" More depth than I thought a normal crime investigation novel would have. Depicts the influence of racial prejudices in the society and the changes in the judicial system. "

— Joann, 3/19/2011" This was an awesome book... I love everything i have read from Mr. Iles!!!! "
— Jennifer, 3/18/2011" Great murder mystery with Penn Cage. Not a minute without action...gets a bit much toward the end but very readable. "
— Diane, 3/12/2011" This could have been a good book. Leave out all of Mr. Iles' sexual fantasies involving underage girls and gymnastic-grade positions, and it would have been a decent mystery. (And a 350 page book instead of 644.) "
— Julie, 3/8/2011" Another great book by Greg Iles! CAn't wait to read the 3rd book in this series! "
— Becky, 3/5/2011" this book is a wonderful book. this book has so much things for to actualy look at and if you never heard of Greg Iles now is the time. "
— Junior, 2/24/2011" Greg Iles is dynamite! I did experience dismay at his descriptions of common teenage behavior in Mississippi that I would love to believe to be false, but aside from that, this story is a freight train barreling forward at breakneck speed. I couldn't put it down and read all 647 pages in 2 days. "
— Luckngrace, 2/20/2011" This book made me want to become a highschool teacher in Mississippi. "
