Best-selling inspirational author Dee Henderson pens a wholesome military romance that demonstrates how Navy SEALs take care of their own. Caught in a riptide Kelly hovers near hypothermia. In her delirium, she sees her dead husband. She also sees Joe, his best friend and fellow SEAL. Like a guardian angel, Joe has been her rock of support during her years as a widow. Before losing consciousness, she gasps: "Lord, let him rescue me and I'll admit I love him." But will she end up in the grasp of the suave arms-smuggler who killed her husband or in the tender embrace of the hero whose friendship she may lose by confessing her love?

"This is a Christian novel about a widow who falls in love with her husband's best friend. The author did a great job at making the reader feel Bear's conflicting emotions. Good tension between characters. The situation with the antagonist was a little different, but I won't spoil it by saying."

" good story. right amount of action and romance. enough action for me, enough romance for my wife to enjoy "
— Dane, 10/4/2017" As a Navy wife, I found it hard to relate to this book. Not because it was about a guy in the Navy Seals but because it just didn't ring all that true to my experience as a normal Navy wife. Sure it got some things right, but the elements needed to tie together in this book had me shaking my head trying to suspend my disbelief. It has a Christian perspective that at times felt a bit preachy to me. Overall a quick read for passing time at the beach or soccer practice but I'm not rushing out to read more by this author. "
— Gina, 2/9/2014" One of the best series I have read in a long time and this is only the first book. "
— Heather, 2/3/2014" Dee Henderson never lets you down. "
— Margaret, 1/31/2014" Dee Henderson has a gift! She writes in such a way that you can't help but fall in love with the characters. This is an amazing love story, filled with action, adventure, love and also faith. The Uncommon Heroes series is a must read! "
— Deborah, 1/29/2014" I love it so far! The military life of a Navy SEAL, holding on to faith through life's most tragic moments, learning how to fall in love once again, and figuring out the victim of a serious smuggling mission; keeps you glued to the pages. "
— Ideco, 1/29/2014" I forgot how compelling Dee Henderson is, even in a re-read. "
— Kathryn, 1/24/2014" Loved this book. Hooked from the beginning... right there with her in the water. "
— Anne, 1/19/2014" I really liked this book, it was different than my normal romances that I read. It makes you believe. "
— Katy, 1/16/2014" I found this book to be Christian Fiction at its best- not overtly cheesy or predictable, real people with real flaws with an underlying connection to the Lord that charts their direction. It was a good mix of mystery, drama, and romance! "
— Tracie, 1/13/2014" Christian author. So no language or sex. Perfect. Love the glimpse into SEAL Navy life, and the danger it presents. "
— Krista, 1/10/2014" I didn't get into this series as much as the O'Malley series. I really didn't feel that it was as well written. Most "romance" books are predictable but when they are too predictable with badly written dialogue added to it some Christian cheeze, it is just not that good. "
— Jackie, 12/30/2013" Enjoyed the entire series and would like to own them and reread some day. "
— faithful, 12/30/2013" one of my favorite books. "
— Kimberly, 12/24/2013" I liked this realistic drama about what it would be like to lose a spouse while he was in the Navy and the struggle to move on after his death. I like the way she turns to God to help her through her struggles "
— Lynette, 12/8/2013" A good read. I enjoyed this book and it was a quick and easy read. Liked the mystery and drama but as always this book seems to end unrealistically or too fast like she is trying to wrap up all the lose ends and quickly get married. "
— Sarah, 11/4/2013" This book really kept my attention and I loved it! "
— Emily, 9/5/2013" This was a nice change from the O'Malley series, which were very good as well. Nice change of format....both main characters are already Christians, instead of one finding Christ during the book as in the O'Malley series. "
— Emily, 4/19/2013" Still on my rereading kick. This one I didn't enjoy quite as much this time. In the words of my dad "Too much God and Country," but it is still an entertaining read, and I'm enjoying the next book in the series now. "
— Jodi, 11/18/2012" (Genre:Fiction/Christian/romance) A nice romance that provided me with some light reading since "A Tale of Two Cities" is pulling hard on my emotions right now. :) "
— Darla, 9/6/2012" Well written books about SEALS. Love, drama, espionage. "
— Janice, 6/24/2012" A success! A great mix of romance and manly battle scenes! A must read! "
— Erick, 6/10/2012" I liked that this was a religious-romance...sweet and refreshing. "
— Jill, 2/6/2012" Good read very predictable. True to the Navy Seals uses the correct terminologies for things. "
— Rebecca, 12/18/2011" It was really good. Very moving, heart wrenching at times. A great story. "
— James, 11/16/2011" This wasn't as good as the O'Malley series but it was still a great book. I am ready to start True Valor. I am sure it will be awesome, as well. "
— Jenny, 11/11/2011" This is the very first book that I read of Dee Henderson. I love the military-friendly/Christian/Action/Adventure/what's going to happen next theme of it. "
— Lynn, 6/14/2011" It's been awhile since I've read a Dee Henderson book--and this is the start of an older series of hers. It was good. I like her other series better...but it was fun to listen to on my latest road trip. "
— Diane, 5/1/2011" Well written books about SEALS. Love, drama, espionage. "
— Janice, 2/13/2011" Great book, I think I like the O'Malley book better, but still really good book. I love the characters faith in God its awesome! "
— Kay, 1/4/2011" I am really enjoying listening to these books. "
— Sbugsy, 9/28/2010" I really like this author- she is a Christian writer and God and prayer are always a part of her Characters. This is a Military series and gives good insight into their jobs and thoughts and character. She writes a good story. "
— Shelley, 8/2/2010" I love Dee Henderson books for some good, clean, purely entertaining reading. "
— Sarah, 7/29/2010" definitely one for the beach and the beach only...preferably with a daiquiri. "
— Rachel, 5/6/2010" I loved the O'Malley series, so I thought I would read this one, which is the first in a four-book series. I love that it is a clean romance which introduced me to the military lifestyle. I cared about the characters and the suspense kept me turning the pages. "
— Katherine, 4/1/2010" This is another Christian book. It is the story of a wife who lost her husband. His best friend is Joe and Joe and Kelly grow close to each other. This is a story of SEALS doing their jobs and catches the bad guy. God is always there for you! "
— Sue, 3/11/2010" Love bear! He was my favorite seal in the series!!! Hard to imagine the struggle of having feelings for your best friends widow. "
— Rachael, 3/10/2010" I have been in the mood for a romance story (I know you are all surprised!) so I picked this up to re-read at the library. I absolutely love Dee Henderson books! I read all (but one) of her books about 1 1/2 years ago and totally enjoyed them. I recommend anything by Dee Henderson. "
— Alyson, 2/26/2010" I've read better SEAL books but this was a decent Christian fiction attempt. (I'm reminding myself about a phrase "... with faint praise.") The story was solid, and the action was okay. "
