Ann Silver is a cop’s cop. As the Midwest Homicide Investigator, she is called in to help local law enforcement on the worst of cases, looking for answers to murder. Hers is one of the region’s most trusted investigative positions. Paul Falcon is the FBI’s top murder cop in the Midwest. If the victim carried a federal badge or had a security clearance, odds are good Paul and his team see the case file or work the murder. Their lives intersect when Ann arrives to pass a case off her desk and onto his. A car wreck and a suspicious death offer a lead on a hired shooter he is tracking. Paul isn’t expecting to meet someone, the kind that goes on the personal side of the ledger, but Ann Silver has his attention. The better he gets to know her, the more Paul realizes her job barely scratches the surface of who she is. She knows spies and soldiers and U.S. Marshals, and has written books about them. She is friends with the former Vice President. People with good reason to be cautious about who they let into their lives deeply trust her. Paul wonders just what secrets Ann is keeping, until she shows him the John Doe Killer case file, and he starts to realize just who this lady he is falling in love with really is . . .

"This book was so good. It is Dee Henderson's first book in quite some time and, in my opinion, her best. The author keeps the reader guessing throughout the entire book, and provides a surprise ending. I would highly recommend that the reader complete her other books first, as this book serves to tie in all of her prior works."

“Henderson…weave[s] a fascinating mystery into a romance.…There’s an ending as twisty and satisfying as spiral macaroni.”
— Publishers Weekly“The characters are strong and the romance is intriguing…Henderson fans are a loyal bunch who will clamor for this title.”
— Library Journal" I love how even though this wasn't one of the O'Malley series, she still integrated her other characters "
— Kassidy, 7/25/2017" This is my fave as she weaves all her other stories into it! "
— Katie, 2/16/2014" I was thrilled to see Dee Henderson taking a foray back into the writing world. She writes a great, fun crime novel. However, the male protagonist in this one felt a bit flat. I had trouble believing that any strong male with a successful FBI career would be such a pushover in a romantic relationship. Toward the end of the story I began to lose interest in the characters. I'm hoping Henderson will keep writing though! "
— Chrissy, 2/9/2014" I really didn't think this book was worth my time to read after I had finished it and was rather disappointed as I remembered her other books to be better. But as my tastes have matured I don't find Dee Henderson to be among my favorite authors. "
— Hannah, 2/8/2014" I've read Dee Henderson before and I've always appreciated her romantic suspense. This story, while good as a Christian Romance, has no suspense, and a lot of back story. It feels like part of a series, but it doesn't appear that way on Henderson's website. Investigative, heartwarming, family-centered, interesting characters but too much dithering for my taste. And way too didactic. I don't remember that from the others. "
— Joyce, 1/30/2014" Exciting, mysteriious. Insightfully inspiring on how yto have a great marriage. I could hardley put it down. Highly reccommended! "
— Susie, 1/24/2014" Could not get through this book. "
— Amber, 1/24/2014" Looking forward to reading. "
— Carol, 1/22/2014" Love love loved this book! "
— Bre, 1/15/2014" I like this author a lot, but the pace of the book was very, very slow. "
— Vicki, 1/10/2014" The love story was very interesting. The detective story was amazing. I loved the twist at the end. Great overall read. Loved every page. "
— Marilyn, 11/30/2013" For now, let's just say that I'm glad I didn't spend any money on this book... "
— Aerykah, 9/15/2013" No page turner. "
— Elizabeth, 9/4/2013" I love my Dee Henderson books. It took about halfway through the book before it had really any suspense. I didn't really like the twist of making one of her characters the author of the rest of her books. She didn't need to add that part. Glad I read it, but not my favorite of hers. "
— Jenna, 8/12/2013" Attention-grabbing and keeping! I am in awe of how Dee Hendreson can avoid confusing her characters. This novel is not as evangelical as some of the others, so that was a little disappointing. Engaging characters and story. "
— Acarrawa, 3/10/2013" This was the first Dee Henderson book I read and oh my goodness, I loved it. Why did no one tell me about this author before? I am a new lover of the Christian suspense romance genre and this was right up my alley. I have already ordered a couple more of her novels and I can't wait to read them. "
— Rhonda, 1/5/2013" Fantastic! Very hard to put down. Good to hear a lot of old names. Looking forward to another one soon. "
— Virginia, 12/9/2012" This is an amazing book. It kept me on the edge of my seat , can't wait to read her other books "
