Suzanne Brockmann's wildly popular Troubleshooters series showcases this master storyteller's rare gift for blending intense adventure with sensuous romance. And it all begins with The Unsung Hero, a heart-pounding tale of love that reveals hidden truths and brings two solitary people together against all odds.
After a near-fatal head injury, Navy SEAL lieutenant Tom Paoletti catches a glimpse of an international terrorist in his New England hometown. When he calls for help, the Navy dismisses the sighting as injury-induced imaginings. In a last-ditch effort to prevent disaster, Tom creates his own makeshift counterterrorism team, assembling his most loyal officers, two elderly war veterans, a couple of misfit teenagers, and Dr. Kelly Ashton. As the town's infamous bad boy, Tom was always in love with Kelly, a sweet "girl next door" who has grown into a remarkable woman. Now he has one final chance for happiness, one last chance to win her heart, and one desperate chance to save the day.

"Sometimes I long for a strong man who smells of danger and clean cloth...and when I do, I turn to what my sister and I refer to as "good trash". This is by no means any insult to the writer or the story, unless it is dubbed "trash"? Anyway, it is not easy to write a suspenseful and steamy story filled with witty exchange and mounting sexual tension while the world, city, company, life of a loved one, treasure, contraband, or general moral order hangs on the cusp of disaster. Brockmann does this well. Contemporary writing, no "bosom" heaving per se, that reflect current issues in a slightly fantastic but not completely undeniable adventure in the bedroom and out."

“Brockmann leaves the reader breathless, and longing for sequels.”
— Booklist (starred review)“Four plot lines are expertly interwoven to create a love story-cum-thriller in the latest work by veteran romance author Brockmann.”
— Publishers Weekly“Suzanne Brockmann has been a consistently excellent storyteller since she first arrived on the fiction scene. However, in The Unsung Hero she takes a quantum leap forward with a novel that is richly textured, tenderly touching and utterly exciting. This is one book you will be unable to put down or forget!”
— RT Book Reviews (4½ gold stars, Top Pick!)" Once again Brockmann is Excellent! This is actually the first in the Troubleshooters Series. Including the Troubleshooters Commander Tom Paoletti and his life long love Kelly Ashton. I really liked this book. Brockmann does not only tell one story, she includes several stories within her books and did it again in this one. If you have a love of WWII you will love the parts of this book about Tom's Uncle and Kelly's Father. I give this one a rousing 5 stars. "
— Wendy, 2/13/2014" There were some things about this I liked (the cute secondary romance with Mallory and David, the interesting use of flashbacks) but the parts about Charles kept triggering some bad personal memories and depressing me, and the main Tom and Kelly storyline was tiresome, so overall it gets an ehhh. "
— T, 1/9/2014" A Sleeper (In All the Good Ways). Started out slow and the prologue had too many characters for me to keep track of (and no real reason, at that point, to bother to try). Then, before I knew it, I was totally sucked into all of the plot lines (yes, there's more than the main one, and all of them well-developed and intertwined). Next thing, when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. Then I spent an entire morning ignoring my huge ToDo list to read it. I'm not usually a big fan of contemporaries, but this one had more than enough going on to keep me happy. I'm looking forward to reading more of this series. "
— Rhea, 12/31/2013" First of the Trouble Shooters series. I started somewhere in the middle of this series then found te first books and started all over again. Was very sad when the last book was written. I miss the team. "
— Shannon, 12/31/2013" I have a really hard time getting into books that are totally unrealistic. This book definitely falls into that category. I couldn't finish it even with skimming. After reading other people's reviews, I think I might try to read a couple other books from the series and hopefully they will be better. "
— Oli, 11/11/2013" Was a very good book. Loved the chemistry between Tom and Kelly. "
— Kris, 10/22/2013" Very much enjoy the series. "
— Pdxorjan, 10/17/2013" Too many stories inside the same book : Tom and Kelly, Mallory and David, Charles and Joe and the WW II, the terrorist attempt. Too bad, there was a great beginning ! "
— Rinou, 7/3/2013" I found the the book a little hard to get into..Although I am glad that I continued to read on..In the end I found it rather enjoyable. "
— Ann, 4/23/2013" Great book. I don't know what I was thinking letting it wallow in my TBR pile for 2 years. I picked it up yesterday morning and couldn't put it down. "
— Stamatia, 11/28/2012" I loved this. Book. Quick read with interestoing twists. "
— Miki, 12/2/2011" I reeeeeally liked Tom, and everything else was ok. Having 3 stories into one was fun. "
— Bk70lvr, 10/10/2011" As usual, Suzanne Brockmann doesn't disappoint. Her characters are real -- so much more real than those of any onther writer. This first book in her series is fantastic. "
— Macy, 7/10/2011" Great story. Wonderful and endearing characters! Gotta love Suz Brockmann! "
— Marleen, 6/4/2011" I really liked it but it's not as good as say the next 6 or so in the series. It's a good base to start with. It was the first one I read - hang in there people if this is the only one you've read and eventually you'll get to Sam and Alyssa's story :) "
— Tashnz75, 5/16/2011" 4 ½ stars. I must confess I liked it more that some people did. The flashback story to WWII didn’t bother me at all; in fact, I loved it! Go figure. I did expect a little more…of a climatic culmination at the end, but it was still very good. The love stories were excellent. "
— Lisa, 4/25/2011" Nice start to the series. Will continue with the series. "
— Carolyn, 2/11/2011" Very much enjoy the series. "
— Pdxorjan, 12/29/2010" There are not enough stars for this book. Absolutely the BEST BOOK that I have read this year!!! "
