Publisher Description

From unrelenting action to intense emotion, from high-stakes drama to breakneck pacing, New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann is a novelist who does it all. Flashpoint is an exciting thriller about men and women operating where agents of the US government cannot, where America's most ruthless enemies thrive—and where every step you take just might be your last.

Jimmy Nash has already lived two lives—and he can't talk about either of them. Formerly an operative of a top secret government agency, he has found a new job with a shadowy company called Troubleshooters Inc. Created by a former Navy SEAL, Troubleshooters Inc. helps anyone in desperate need—which provides a perfect cover for its other, more perilous objective: covert special operations.

Now Nash and a quickly assembled team of expert operators have come to the earthquake-ravaged country of Kazbekistan in the guise of relief workers. There amid the dust and death, in a land of bloodred sunsets and ancient blood feuds, they must track down a missing laptop computer that may hold secrets vital to national security.

To get it done, Nash does what he does best: break every rule in the book and manipulate those who can help him get what he needs. But this time Nash may have met his match in Tess Bailey, a Troubleshooters operative with all the right instincts—and zero field experience. The chemistry between them is immediate—and potentially explosive. Now these two professionals must play out their dangerous games in the world's most dangerous place, cut off from their own government, cutting deals with people they can't trust, and guarding forbidden passions that threaten to compromise their crucial mission.

A full-throttle adventure teamed with heated emotion, Flashpoint proves that Suzanne Brockmann can spin suspense unlike any other author working today.

"For whatever reason, it seems like Brockmann does her best work in Kazbekistan. In this, the seventh installment of the Troubleshooters she returns to The Pit with all emotional guns blazing and manages to blow it completely out of the water with a layered tale of love, lust, betrayal, and explosives. Jimmy Nash is one of Brockmann's more complicated heroes, and her willingness to make his happy ending a work in progress is what sells Flashpoint. Perfect for anyone who ever thought Moneypenny should bag James Bond."

Quotes

  • “Powerhouse author Brockmann opens up a new chapter in the exploits of SEAL Team 16. Creating Troubleshooters Inc. opens the door to whole new vistas for her to explore.”

    — RT Book Reviews (4½ stars)
  • “Veteran romantic-suspense novelist Brockmann serves up a heady mix of tension, romance, and international intrigue…Car bombs, shady American reporters, police interrogations, aftershocks, and hot sex complicate matters, but it’s a hotel ambush and Tess’ kidnapping that sends both men on the rescue effort of their lives. Their brisk success allows the romantic entanglement to resume center stage, where, as far as romance fans are concerned, it belongs.”

    — Publishers Weekly
  • “Really, really good…Flashpoint is an impressive work. Brockmann gets points for continuing to explore new directions and doing so quite well.”

    — Bookreporter
  • “It should come as no surprise to listeners that Brockmann began her career as a screenwriter. The dialogue in her romantic suspense novels is always plentiful and finely tuned, which is partly why her newest offering translates so well to audio. The rest of the credit belongs to Ewbank and Lawlor, who narrate alternate sections of the book, Ewbank taking on the chapters told from a female perspective and Lawlor handling those told from a male point of view…Both narrators…deliver the book’s spirited banter with gusto, making this an enjoyable beach listen.”

" I was worried about liking this one as it is the first in the series that is not focused on SEAL Team 16, even if there are some familiar players. I have to say that I really enjoyed it though. Nash and Tess were a solid lead couple, and I enjoyed the supporting cast as well (I'm hoping we'll see Decker in a future book, fingers crossed). "

" some readers may not really enjoy this book, since it doesn't focus on one of the SEAL team 16 members, but its a good introduction to how suzanne is transistioning from focusing on the SEALs to the Troubleshooters. and it was great to revisit the Pit :) but as i've said before about brockmann's books, i love her characterizations and how there are overarching story lines that continue from one book to another. i just can't put her books down--even if it is 1 am! " I only finished this book because am anxious to read Max's story, but the way this story was told made me actually stop reading it more than once. The dynamic from the previous books was missing and the lack of knowledge on these new characters didn't make it any better. The story itself would have been fine on its own, but after reading the first 6 books one after the other it was a bit shocking. "

" A bit of a different vein for her Troubleshooters series; I enjoyed it though I would have liked to have seen what had happened with certain members of Team Sixteen since the last book. I did wish there was more character development with the two main characters, though. "
