New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Brockmann knows exactly what makes hearts race and pulses pound: peril and passion. No one succeeds more brilliantly at blending these exhilarating elements in breathtaking novels of men and women forced to grapple with the deepest emotions and the highest risks. And there's no better proof than Hot Target—which will thrill on every level.
Like most men of action, Navy SEAL chief Cosmo Richter never learned how to take a vacation. So when he finds himself facing a month's leave, he offers his services to Troubleshooters Incorporated. Founded by a former SEAL, the private-sector security firm is a major player in the ongoing war against terrorism and known for carrying out covert missions too volatile for official US military action. But Richter's first case is anything but under the radar.
High-profile maverick movie producer Jane Mercedes Chadwick hasn't quite completed her newest film, but she's already courting controversy. The World War II epic frankly portrays the homosexuality of a real-life hero—and the storm of advance media buzz surrounding it has drawn the fury of extremist groups. But despite a relentless campaign of angry emails, phone calls, and smear tactics, Chadwick won't be pressured into abandoning the project. Then the death threats come.
While the FBI appears on the scene, nervous Hollywood associates call in Troubleshooters, and now Chadwick has an army of round-the-clock bodyguards, whether she likes it or not—and she definitely doesn't. Her stubbornness doesn't make FBI agent Jules Cassidy's job any easier. The fiercely independent filmmaker presents yet another emotional obstacle that Cassidy doesn't need—he's already in the middle of a personal tug-of-war with his ex-lover, and fighting a growing attraction to Chadwick's brother.
Determined to succeed—and survive—on her own terms, Chadwick will face off with enemies and allies alike. But she doesn't count on the bond she'll form with the quiet, capable Cosmo Richter. Yet even as their feelings bring them closer, the noose of deadly terror all around them draws tighter. And when all hell erupts, desire and desperate choices will collide on a killing ground that may trap them both in the crossfire.

"I absolutely loved this book!! I've read only one other Trouble Shooters book and it was All Through the Night. The love story between Jane and Cosmo was so good, and the beginnings of the love story between Jules and Robin was great too! When Robin starts to realize he could be gay, it just floors him. He really had no clue that he was gay? Everyone else seemed to get the vibe, but Robin was clueless. I couldn't put this book down on Friday and read it for hours and actually made myself sick. I tend sometimes to read too long and strain my eyes and I start to get Vertigo. I still wasn't finished with it but managed to finish it this morning. I still don't feel well and have reading to do for some classes I take so I'm kinda screwed I think! lol! I have the next book that Jules & Robin are in Force of Nature and it's killing me to not pick it up and start reading it, which I probably will do before the day is over. I liked finding out more about Adam. What a shallow character but then he would do something like help to save Robin from the shooter and he would redeem himself a little. I would love it if the author would let him find true love and heartbreak in a relationship so he would know how it feels. He hurt Jules so much, he finally needs to realize what "real love" is about. I would totally love to read that story! Cosmo and Jane just fit together so perfectly in this story. I just loved them. All in all this was just a great read and you really can read it as a stand-a-lone but I do understand how after reading this book, it would make you want to read all of them!!"

“The importance of both freedom and tolerance are the underlying messages in Brockmann’s latest intense thriller. Popular gay character Jules gets his chance at a possible new love interest while also being forced to confront heartache from the past. Hot Target is an emotional banquet served with lots of taut adventure.”
— RT Book Reviews (4 1/2 stars, Top Pick!)“Brockmann’s uncanny ability to give each character an authentic voice and dialogue to match will pull readers through.”
— Publishers Weekly“Riveting…Brockmann’s latest is funny, sexy, suspenseful, and superb.”

— Megan, 1/25/2014" This was a fun read. The lead characters are genuinely likeable and have fun snarky dialogue. The lead male character: A Navy SEAL who is emotionally intelligent and a card-carrying member of PFLAG. Now that is sexy. Also, there is an FBI agent secondary character (a primary character in other books in the series, I assume) who is gay, and his love life is one of the subplots-- nice to see a romance novel that is not exclusively heteronormative in various ways. I am informed that Brockmann's son is gay, and it is nice to see her waving her PFLAG flag in her writing. "
— Juliana, 1/22/2014" Robin and Adam both don't deserve Jules. Jules is awesome. Kind of meh about Jane. Like the idea of Cosmo more than the execution. Boo on Angelina Murphy's storyline, esp. since she and Vinh are the only intra-POC couple so far in the series. "
— Oyceter, 1/12/2014" I love the Cosmo character. "
— Barbara, 12/8/2013" 1st one in the series that I read. Got me hooked. "
— Mendy, 10/28/2013" I like her way of weaving a story within a story. Jules Cassidy rocks! "
— Annie, 9/27/2013" Is there a woman anywhere who can write action better? "
— Kim, 9/19/2013" This book introduced me to Suzanne Brockmann and her Troubleshooters Series. I picked it up at a CVS to read on a 3 day Amtrak ride. It kept me completely occupied all 3 days and was a read that even if I weren't stuck on a train, I would not have been able to put down. "
— Anne, 9/19/2013" I really enjoyed this book. "
— laurie, 9/14/2013" I enjoyed this book and thought it was a nice change of pace. I loved how the WWII story was woven in as the plot of the movie. I loved Jules in this book and can't wait to see where he is headed in future books. "
— Kira, 10/5/2012" First off, I didn't like Jane Mercedes or the Hollywood setting. I felt that Jane was dismissive of Cosmo. I did like the storyline between Jules, Adam, and Robin. I also think that Jules deserves better--someone who actually cares for him and doesn't treat him horribly. "
— Tressa, 9/5/2012" Navy SEAL Chief Cosmo Richter is an amazing character! While reading I kept seeing a charasmatic younger Neil McDonough as Cosmo! "
— Marleen, 8/11/2012" nice, easy paced ,story of Hollywood producer...a few glimpses of Hollywood inside, there fear..insecurities and eccentricities..an ile for lazy afternoon "
— Rajnish, 4/18/2012" Such a fun and romantic book. Now, I have to start at the beginning. "
— Mariah, 9/19/2011" I thought it was a little long and the love triangle was a bit annoying to me, but was still good. Not a solid 4, but close. "
— Susan, 9/14/2011" Good for the mindless romance with a bit of suspense. "
— Obisbooks, 8/22/2011" Pretty good one -- interesting point of view about sexuality. The mystery part of the book held my attention. "
— Jeanie, 4/24/2011" I love this author. No matter how many of her books I read, I am always pleased. "
— Janel, 4/19/2011" Robin and Adam both don't deserve Jules. Jules is awesome. Kind of meh about Jane. Like the idea of Cosmo more than the execution. Boo on Angelina Murphy's storyline, esp. since she and Vinh are the only intra-POC couple so far in the series. "
