"This was one of the books that I picked up in a dusty old book shop (my mom jokingly said it looked like something I would read). Luckily, I agreed. To say I loved this book would be a grand understatement. The action was quick to pick up, and the characters had a great amount of mystery surrounding them. The mystery lasted for a few books. I love Halt. I had to put that in there, somewhere. 5/5 recommend for all ages"

" One of my favorite series! Can't wait for my kids to become of age so we can listen to this together! "
— BondServantR116, 8/23/2023" I love this series. My husband picked the first book up for our son, and then I devoured the whole series myself. :-) The settings are clearly based on medieval history, but with twists, and themes of honour and doing what is right run through them all. "
— Liz, 3/25/2022" I don't read a ton of fantasy but this series grabbed me and took me on many fun adventures! The characters are very likeable and the plot keeps you wanting more. "
— Justin, 2/17/2014" I liked this book because it keeps you guessing. This series takes place during the medieval time. The main character,Will, is small for his age and has to find what craft he wants to learn. He has one crafts in mind battle school where he can learn to be a warrior. His father died a hero in the kingdom, which inspires him to become a warrior. Will he be accepted? If not which craft will accept him. "
— Marco, 2/10/2014" Just OK. Fun but nothing special. The series is starting to drag... "
— Keith, 1/27/2014" I just loved this simple fantasy series that featured warm, friendly characters that you enjoyed rooting for and spending time with. Not as dark or cynical, these stories are perfect for any age. I think I have read the entire series at least twice - these are "comfort food" books for me. "
— John, 1/22/2014" A good adventure story for middle school readers. "
— Vicky, 1/7/2014" This book seemed to be all about character development. It didn't feel like a whole lot happened until the end, but I still really enjoyed it. I love the characters in this book. And there's, like, a million more books in the series for stuff to happen, so I guess I'll just have to keep reading. "

— Heather, 5/12/2011John A. Flanagan grew up in Sydney, Australia hoping to be a writer. It wasn’t until he wrote a highly uncomplimentary poem about a senior executive at the agency he worked, however, that his talent was revealed. It turned out one of the company directors agreed with John’s assessment of the executive, and happily agreed to train John in copywriting. After writing advertising copy for the next two decades, John teamed with an old friend to develop a television sitcom, Hey Dad!, which went on to air for eight years. John began writing the Ranger’s Apprentice series as a way to encourage his son, Michael, to enjoy reading. He currently lives in the suburb of Manly, Australia, with his wife.
